Thread regarding Five9 Inc. layoffs

Any idea when the next round might hit?

Not that there’s much left to cut. But clearly they don’t have a smarter solution to our problems.

@11r Is this person executive? If they are not, they probably themselves won’t know until the very last moment.
While I generally agree with your point about anonymous forums, I personally think the next layoff is immanent, given the company’s course on cost cutting and shifting the workforce in less expensive countries.

I guess this is the problem with anonymous boards. I talked to someone fairly high up. They said there are no plans for layoffs at the moment. I think they would know, and I also think they believe what they said.

This feels like one of those "where there's smoke there's fire" things. But, with this site, these multiple people who seem like they know could just as easily be one troll.

I guess I'll just sit on pins and needles until after the earnings call.

@ct If you knew anything about Five9, you'd know q2 ended June 30.

@cx Is the team being impacted an engineering one or sales? That's terrible either way.

@cx sorry to hear this. When I joined Five9 the culture was amazing. It was true collaboration across the board. There were no walls between groups everyone was eager to help. But, this will create the opposite of that and there was a strange part of me that felt relief when I was laid off in April.

I’m officially losing one person on my team. And was told to expect the rest of my US based team to be let go in the coming months. I’ll then hire in PH/India. I guess I can be happy that all of my PH employees are safe but damn. I’m interviewing and hope to leave soon. It’s too much.

My guess the RIF will happen week of July 28-31 before July 31 (Q2 end).

Multiple leaders currently in India for a 2.5 week visit. So RIF probably won't happen until they get back.

The list is already being made now, I have seen it. If you got a needs improvement you can count on being on it.

It could be anytime, but heard it could be before the end of this qtr. It's clear they have no idea what they're doing. But let's not worry since Mike and e-staff aren't losing sleep over it.
