Alas, life can be very brutal in the private sector. I bailed out of high-tech and got a nice, meaningful job in the non-profit education sector over 20 years ago . Great benefits, no O/T, and now I have a very, very sweet defined-benefit pension [with time to manage my stock/bond portfolio,]
Best wishes to all of you, but beware - your job may be the next to go...

@crs+163UI8t4 - Pretty sure they're violating a least 1 or more U.S. labor laws (canning US workers and using H1Bs or cheaper offshore labor) in addition to completely side-stepping their own published policies for protection and support of people non-visible disabilities and people of age, all while touting their "love" for diversity & inclusion culture. They love to publish a few non-visible disability success stories of a few folks on social media, but that's just for the sake of appearances - definitely the exception and not the rule.
Laying off a qualified American citizen and replacing them with an H1B visa holder, or renewing an H1B visa when a qualified American citizen has applied for that position, is a prosecutable crime. If you are a US Citizen and MSFT has discriminated against you by preferentially hiring or retaining a H1B visa holder, please, PLEASE file a complaint with USCIS here:

Be as specific as possible. If you provide accurate, actionable information, it WILL be referred to a DOJ attorney for investigation and potential legal action.
and will hire for newly created roles from laid-off staff.
These new hires would be H1B's, right?
How many H1B's got laid off? MSFT continues to file for H1B's.
