I am 57. Dropped from Excellent to good, to NI over thr last 3 assessments. I approached my supervisor about volunteering for NSi and would take the PIl. He told me it could not be arranged. Anyone experience this? I am ready to leave. I guess just wait to see where i fall in the assessment this year

It’s systemic for anyone RE. It’s their “legal” way of getting rid of higher cost employees. But they need a certain amount of younger PIP fodder to make it look like it’s not age discrimination.

@cj People’s rankings are are going from excellent to NSI in two ranking cycles.
It’s very rare for a high performer to downturn that quickly in any company. Either the ranking system is being gamed or the ranks themselves never meant anything to begin with.
@OP Just do what all the other old guys do: stop doing any work and retire in place.
I guarantee that your ranking craters and you catch an NSI/PIP. As an added bonus you can come back here and whine about how women and immigrants colluded with liberal elites to ruin your career and steal your manhood. Seems like a win-win.
@mq Maybe OP doesn’t want to negatively impact his coworkers by doing poorer quality work. Maybe he likes his team and/or manager and doesn’t want to dump extra work onto them. Another reason why he is letting his manager know early he’d voluntarily be PIP’d. Gives them time to build out a transition plan.
Just start talking sh het about what a sorry company exxon is. Pi-s off the supervisor and managers. Tell them weam is stupid and psms is bu ll sh-t. I truly pi---d exxon off and they piped me out. It is easy to do. Say bad things about low carbon solutions and exxons future.
alternatively you could just drop your performance visibly so that the supervisor now has the justification to pip you officially... no need for huddle aggreements. take home office, produce less, be disruptive in meetings with superiors. you'll get what you want.
Yes, this absolutely happens. HR does not understand the roles/work and is in no position to intervene. Regarding Ethics— Ethics is absent from much of the PA process.
Your supervisor could be fired for not assessing you properly. I have personally experienced this as a supervisor. Had an employee quit and wasn’t allowed to use them as the sacrificial lamb. HR even checks that you aren’t using people in this way.

1) protect someone on their team from being PIP’d
2) get an extra 3 months of pay by taking the PIL
You’re proposing to do something unethical. It’s HR’s job to initiate unethical actions. Stay in your own lane!
Do you not know how to submit for official retirement? You’ve been eligible for 2+ years…
Why should the company pay you extra to retire?
PIPs are important to eliminate the bottom feeder in our company, why wate it on you?

I agree it’s on HR but I know of folks in the business they talked to their super. Put that person last in the rankings. They got the PIL and out the door. Now guess you could have a conflict if others are asking the same. Hahaha
Your supervisor means nothing in this scenario. HR would be the creeps to talk to, if you're absolutely ready to leave, but note this is usually a one-way street. Good luck to you.
