Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Is it usually just Sales orgs that get hit by layoffs? I never see anybody comment about other orgs

I'm not in sales or anywhere close to falling under that "umbrella" but, whenever I come here every few months to see "rumors" it's always about ISG or CSG or PS or other abbreviations I don't know. ISG and CSG I'm assuming means inside sales and channel sales?

I never see anything about engineers, IT, networking, cyber, devs, etc... in regards to orgs being hit/at risk.

Are layoffs primarily focused on sales, marketing and HR or am I missing something here

@cr Well, what exactly constitutes "IT?" Dozens of orgs are technically "IT" and as someone who is actually part of the NDA and is a major player in it, it is not about getting rid of anybody lol. IMO, the NDA is silly and doesn't need to be one but, whatever...

IT has been hammered and will continue to be. Rumor has it Jenn Fe--h left because the uppers demanded a 50% head count reduction so Doug the ace man has come to follow through. And it’s a poorly kept secret that this whole NDA business is about disappearing IT and replacing them with cloud and contractors. Supposedly 80-90% of IT jobs to be cut in next 1-2 years.

Finance, particularly Global Business Operations, was absolutely decimated in the last couple of years. That org probably took a 50% cumulative cut, focused on long-tenured folks.

Even a reporter would be able to do a simple google search on what CSG and ISG are. It's public knowledge.

My perception from the past was that layoffs mostly impacted other groups much more than Sales. But I was always in PG, so I might be wrong. But Sales = Revenue. Historically, Dell wouldn’t sc--w around with revenue generation. But this new world is insane.

This a phishing post likely by a reporter. If not, how could you not search the company website?

CSG, ISG, Dell IT. Layoffs are everywhere because the company is run by baboons.

The company continues to fail with the same leadership over and over. These guys should buy a mirror.

The CSS third party software group has been laying off people since 2023. Seems like every month.

This has to be a phishing post. I don't know how you work for Dell if you don't know what these groups are and who works in them. A simple search on Inside Dell can answer your question. Look at the org chart in Workday, FFS.

But to answer your question, no, layoffs absolutely have not been focused on sales. Every organization in this company has been hit over the last two and a half years, across every type of worker you mention.

I was a FSS in Field Services, left before the layoffs began. Of the roughly 15 others I worked with in that role only one is left. All the others were laid off. Also if several CEs who were let go.
