@nh what about L1 ? 100k is peanuts for companies in SJC ... most damage is done by L1 directors that hire H1B.. please first get rid of them..

On H1Bs ... some are really smart people (mostly Europeans and Chinese), those from India are a big mixed bag and the majority are just average. Some are downright terrible and should never have reveived a Visa. Some are really good too, but it's an exception. American engineers (with a proper CS or similar degree) are in general very, very good. Some of the best scientists I've met are Americans. But they're expensive and that doesn't match the cost-driven agenda of big corporations. The US gov should have all H1Bs already working in the US pass a competency test that's on par with the level of a good American STEM master's degree. You pass, you stay. You fail, pack your bags.
@j3 Cisco employees in management roles lol, the most corrupt and incompetent managers that you see in the industry. Total disasters, technically inept, they behave like thugs. On the other hand, assuming the American education system is garbage as the h1b supporters claim, then how the fu-k are the H1Bs Ivy League graduates qualified for management positions at Cisco?
US needs to impose $500k or more fee on L1 visa.. most of these are for SrDir/Dir that hire non local poeple from there...(their own,s..t eating, seen may SrDir/Dir imported on L1 from Bangalore in my time) not sure why Trump only targeted h1b... why not L1 visa ..
Cisco H1Bs are garbage. Cisco is not a good company, not an innovator and it will be wiped out by startup competitors.

Some of these H1Bs are graduates from top schools & ivy leagues. They didn’t simply walked in those roles. Just because someone is American with a university of phoenix diploma, doesn’t mean you’ll get a job over a H1B candidate.
America doesn’t need foreign labor, let alone H1Bs. The only reason H1Bs are coming to this country is because corrupt, incompetent ceos need to boost the bottom line and increase the stock. H1Bs are mostly, not all, the fu--ing d-mbest sheeps that you can meet. They don’t innovate, they are obedient followers that are trying to do whatever sh-t they are asked too. Americans are real innovators, but they don’t come cheap. All American startups are soon going to replace the companies that use sheeps and do not innovate.
