Dell seems determined to get rid of those few who are left through layoffs. It seems like nobody cares about the future of this place, just the immediate savings that can be achieved through cuts. You can't run a company like that and expect it to be successful.

Well said. And I agree 100%.
Many managers ( Sr. Dir and VP) hide behind " It hurts me more.. " dialogue. These guys should be given Oscar awards for their acting.
My boss positioned me for a layoff so that his friend at i10 could be spared. And he later told the team that it was "painful" for him when VP forced him to layoff. And that my boss had "no control".
Keep in mind that my boss knew about the upcoming lay offs ahead of time and then started creating document trail to support the lay off.
The boss slowly took out the whole team to save his friend during each Layoff cycle.
Finally today his friend is also gone.. but the boss enjoys a promotion.. and got control of another team in AI, while the AI team's original boss was laid off.
Tells you a lot about Dell culture.
To the so-called manager below saying essentially dont shoot the messenger. This message is a perfect case study in why so many middle managers are unfit for leadership roles.
Leadership is not about venting frustration, insulting others, or passing blame upstream while absolving yourself of responsibility. It’s about accountability, emotional intelligence, and grace under pressure — none of which are present here.
Let’s be clear: Yes, middle managers are often caught in the crossfire, but that does not give them license to lash out at employees, not stand up for his/her team or deflect criticism with profanity and personal attacks. True leaders don’t punch down. They shield their teams, advocate for them, and communicate with maturity — even when the message is tough.
If your response to criticism is to rage about how hard you have it while dismissing valid concerns from team members as “bullsht” or calling them “smart a*es,” then you’re not leading — you’re simply occupying a position of authority and misusing it. That’s not pressure, that’s a lack of leadership skill.
Great managers inspire, uplift, and communicate hard truths with compassion. They don’t crumble into bitterness or we-ponize their stress against the very people they’re supposed to support. If this kind of outburst is what passes for management, it's no wonder morale is low and trust is eroding.
Don’t confuse suffering with competence. If you're burning out, spewing resentment, and losing your empathy — maybe the issue isn't just the system above you. Maybe you're not built for this role.
Check this out, This is how management and employees hould be treated. https://fortune.com/2025/04/04/walmart-ceo-managers-six-figure-salaries-engagement-turnover/
Good and glad to be gone!
I thought my Manager was great until she stabbed me in the back and then ran over me, so to speak.
'Unless you’ve BEEN a manager in Dell, shut your trap.'
You are just following orders, right?
Nothing worse than a dell lifer saying "this hurts me more than it hurts you"
Again I see some smart a** in the comments making more negative comments about Dell managers.
Unless you’ve BEEN a manager in Dell, shut your trap. You have NO idea. Go and blame someone else for your position in life.
The pressure on managers is intense and we are often given increasing difficult parameters within which to work, most of which we know will have a negative effect on a fellow human being.
I have lost several nights sleep, had severe acid reflux, anxiety, panic attacks etc knowing I had to deliver messaging (particularly messaging I didn’t agree with) to Team members the vast majority of which have been excellent, model employees.
The cr-p flows downhill. Stop loosely and indiscriminately vilifying ‘managers’, keep your ire and bullsh*t for the Director/VP levels please where the actual decisions about you and your job are being made.
Dell is the new infosys
It’s becoming an ethical situation at Dell. You can’t just arbitrarily not give people their full bonus, you can’t just arbitrarily lay off people and you can’t continue to put your managers in these unethical situations. You’re looking at a class action lawsuit.
You can thank Dells management team for this mess.
Or shall I say lack of management.
Wonder % of managers who are family and friends.
Such smart folks.
Good job dell managers, would love to have that bullet on my resume.
Steve Jobs always said that A list employees hire other A list employees at Apple. I probably don't even qualify as a D list employee at Dell. But who else would hire me? I'm old and useless without any transferable skills.
