Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Only those who can’t get a better job are still here

I think that there is no employee at BH who is still here because he or she really wants to be here. Is there anyone? Even the biggest brown-nosers and yes man would probably prefer to go somewhere else, if only they had an opportunity.

Can someone explain what happened to Baker Hughes in Sugarland? It appears to be a cubicle farm of emptiness. Wow looks disseminated.

Don’t do it. Avoid this place I promise you if you go to work for BH you will regret it.

Some of the criticisms in recent posts are a bit general or ambiguous. Can you be more specific? Anything in particular a prospective candidate should be concerned about? I have searched the latest news and haven't seen any major red flags, like bankruptcies or takeovers or layoffs, and their stock appears to be performing on par with oilfield services and oil/gas in general. Maybe I am just naive or ignorant.

The site I work at is very much a reactive one. The changes throughout the last 6-7 years is staggering. The biggest issue is the middle management. They have boys in charge of men and in the last two years the middle management have really forgotten how to manage!
Personally this just can’t continue and surely another employee engagement survey must be on the cards. Time to put targets on managers backs and get results before it’s too late.

Toxic environment and no choice but to hang on and work the shaft, cradle the ba--s, and swallow the gravy…because bills gotta be paid.

Agreed, and the beatings will continue until moral improves for the remaining passengers (employees) that keep rearranging the deck chairs on the TITanic hoping that they will somehow survive!

That’s absolutely correct. Well said.

Totally agree. The only ones left are those that have either burned themselves and can’t get hired elsewhere or are so incompetent nobody else wants them. They’ve driven all the decent talent in the company running for the hills. Classic example of bad leadership trickling down.
