M Dell is a greedy POS. He will bank upward of $25B and will pay capital gain tax. He is a billionaire, why destroy a good technology company and give it to Financial Engineer in Chief, Hoc.

It’s a publicly traded company… its goal is not to make employees happy but investors. If making employees happy can contribute to investor returns then that’s a great benefit but that’s not the purpose. It is not your family. It is a job. If you want something more, start your own business or join the military.

No one should be shocked at this point. The end was made quite clear over a year ago. If you’re somewhere with a good severance policy be grateful. At least you’re not a contractor.

Hunger Games started

This is the end
Hold your breath and count to ten
Feel the Earth move and then
Hear my heart burst again
For this is the end

Dell has 20 billion debt
VMware has 8 billion debt
BC has 39 billion debt
BC wants another 24 billion debt to buy VMware.

All these leveraged buyouts businesses thrived as interest rates went down from 15% to 0% in the past 40 years. Now the interest rates went from 0% to 5% in a year. Jamie Dimon said interest rates are going to 7% and will stay there for the foreseeable future.

Debt is the hot potato now. Those who are holding debt will get their hands burned and lose their shirts.

In the next few years many companies won't exist.

You can be angry at Dell or whomever. If he hadn't accumulated a large percentage of vmware shares, some activist investor would have. Look at what happened to Citrix over the last 10 years.
Don't blame the large shareholders. They will always do what's best for them. If you don't want that outside influence , don't go public and grow organically instead of raising capital (which comes with oversight). You can't have it both ways. Blame the VMware leadership for poor execution over the years. Any of the public clouds have annual growth in excess of VMware's total virtualization business, which took 25 years to build up. So, clearly the server based virtualization is not working out, no matter how much "multi-cloud" and "cross-cloud" the marketing and product folks are trying to preach.
Broadcom's response to the UK regulators lays this argument out beautifully.

He may be greedy, but that doesn't mean that VMW "leadership" wasn't completely incompetent. Both can be true.

VMW largely did this to themselves.

That's because the management invested on themselves and hiring cheap labour who should not have been working in I.t. in the first place instead and not training them. In the flip side the amount of customers who calling about non VMware issues was ridiculous and only shows their incompetence. Calling VMware support because your printer or your kms is not working is pretty d-mb.

As a former VMware customer… VMware support was and forever will be the worst part of VMware. Doesn’t matter where it was. We got better support from HP/HPE than VMware.

Michael Dell was always a piece of sh-t. He was one of the first to farm support out to India for the cheap labour and the rest followed destroying I.t.
