Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Burned out

I am completely worn out from this job. Endless politics, slow processes, and no clear path forward make every day frustrating. Being part of such a large, inefficient team drains any motivation. The only reason I stick around is the paycheck, but even that feels less satisfying every month.

Clowns being in Senior seats is causing this havoc.

All need to just retire and go home or learn how to read and write at least.

@b9 I don’t think you understand that the voices in my head start the second my eyes open. Anxiety. Self-abuse. Suueecide. It’s become my default state of being. Too old to start over, way too young to retire.

Highly considering blowing it all traveling and on dr-gs, and go out on my own terms.

I'm sorry you're going through that. I can understand your frustration and I feel it sometimes too, but I know in my case it comes from a good place in that im a hard worker and I want to succeed. But what I've learned in corporate America is that hard work alone gets you nowhere, so don't try to fix all the bank's problems. Just focus on what you have control over and keep your opinions on other areas to yourself. The reality is everyone doesn't want to fix what's broken. If they fix what's broken, they'll have to learn and try to do something else. It's not that they dont know it's inefficient, they like it that way and they've convinced their seniors that this is the only way it can be done. So let them. Make improvements on what you do but never expect anyone else to change. Stay in your lane so you dont become a threat. Otherwise all of the hard work you've done will mean absolutely nothing.

Agreed with your complaint as after I saw my 30 years old manager who got three promotion since she joined ed as AVP. All work she did were mess but she wear se-y clothes. Haha 30 years old dress like ten agerers in stawberry store. Is it because she is young or se-y? She skipped 20 year experience for being favorited for whatever reason but I have to clean up all the mess she left before she got promoted as a super star! Work is not important but why business exist? Not for the company but for the boss pleasure?

@b6 some of us are in the delicious space of being ready to retire. Paid our dues done with this cr-p and ready to get out the door. A lot are just hoping for a RIF package as a sweet parting gift but to them I say it’s really not worth waiting. My horizon has shrunk from summer of 26 till Jan.

For those with more time to go I feel your pain. If your really miserable leave but I’ve seen Thing progressively get worse for middle managers in Finance over the last 15 years for sure.

Work is just something you do it shouldn’t define you.

@b0 What a callous response. Most people cannot just leave. They need a job and the market sux. Most people have families that not only depend on a paycheck but benefits as well. What a DB.

I feel you Op, many people are the in the similar situation so you are not alone. Do you have savings? Maybe it is worth to take 2-3 days sick leave?
