Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

Master conductor is here

4 new jobs on July 18th in Williston, ND. The new position is called Road Utility Position, RUP for short. They have their own crew cab pickup and assist with switching on the main and in the yard. Making mainline repairs like knuckles and air hoses. They plan to open new positions across the system, where they need them.

What amazes me is that BNSF claims that safety is paramount. Really? When they’re making people do more with less resources and support and the experienced personnel are being pushed out?. My boss had the nerve to promote a younger person with absolutely no experience in my area to be in charge of my team and told me I would be the one to train her. Uh, no, that’s not how it works. I retired a month later and now they are scrambling to figure out how to do all of the things I did. This is happening across all departments at BNSF, in corporate and field. This is how they treat their “most valuable assets”, which they claim are their employees. Also, they claim to be transparent with employees, which is complete BS.

Thats funny. What a recipe for disaster! Ive worked around 100+ conductors as a responder, and no offense to them and not saying they are stupid, but 95 percent of them dont have the slightest clue in the mechanics of a car/locomotive. I cant tell you how many times ive come upon a car that the conductor is standing at and were told by dispatch to "cut the car out" and had the retainer valve to SD or HP thinking this was how you cut out a car. Hmmm... (Bonus points for a conductor- What does hp or sd stand for? No cheating by google!) Or the 30 or 40 times ive seen a wrong part installed in a coupler, causing it to jam when making a joint- All done by a conductor. It takes YEARS and YEARS of training, of trial and error, to master the crafts. So So So many things learned from experienced guys who knew all the tricks, all the correct repairs, all the "watch out for this" and "dont put your hand there" BNSF is foolish to have any 3 month conductor doing the work of what would take 3 years of training a craft personnel to do. This is gonna be a timeslip nightmare and any conductor that is willingly doing this is paving the way for one man crews. Youre gonna have cars set out EVERYWHERE. Their little "Dwell" party they are having will be the biggest lie and increase Dwell to the highest levels you've ever seen. It more than knuckles and hoses you see out here- if it was just that, life would be great! But believe me, thats about 10 percent of all service interruptions. Good luck BNSF. Way to remain "Competitive" lol. See you in the funny papers.

Master conductor is the funniest sht in the world. No such thing and you guys will all participate and go to one man crews. You’ll all shoot yourselves in the foot.
