Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Unfair severance package

So finally lucky people got their severance email today that 24 is the last day for them. Company will serve them full salary for 10 months who took this opportunity. There are people who worked as Directors, Sr.Directors for the company only few years but have secure financial status for coming 10 months with full big salaries. Just want to ask the HR that what about the people who stayed with company because of less severance? Now suffer the salary cut, furloughs or lay-off. There are people who took this offer and they were not even doing some work. That’s why they did not need to give any KT. Did Sabre realize that how many waste person the company was having and still gave benefits to them only. Totally wrong decision of this enhanced package.

Company still trash and you are still here, like myself. Sad but true. Same song in a different key.

It;s not about whether the volunteers are bad people. The problem is Sabre encouraged many good, talented, good performing employees to leave, the ones who know can find job elsewhere. It is actually bad for the company to let those go, and also luxurious to give this enhanced severance package when the company has no money, while they save peanuts on others being furloughed and having reduced salary. Not good decision. Furlough and reduce salary, and if someone wants to leave or can find a job, go ahead.

So many incorrect statements here. I’m not a principal or director and I took the severance package. It just made sense. Those of us at senior or below were enticed by double severance at full pay with benefits. That’s a great offer for most employees at my level.
I have excellent performance ratings and my customers love me. I don’t want to leave my job. I hope to be rehired next year.

I didn’t take the package and regret it. If I would have know when it would go in effect and given a few more days to review my personal situation...I would have taken it. PLEASE HR....OFFER IT AGAIN

With the directors and managers that took the retirement package, it would not surprise me if they also try to claim unemployment benefits. That shows you what kind of people they are.

People who stayed will get furloughs in coming weeks. It’s fair with people who took retirement but not fair with the good people who are working so hard and will be laid off or will sit at home with furloughs. Not fair that in this kind of situation lot of waste people took benefit out of this situation. Management could have filter out those people without giving this kind of offer to those people. It’s very demotivating.

It's a sad time it will be hard to say goodbye to many good colleagues. Wish us luck in recovery!

I don't think they were so negative. I spoke to several in delivery that are retiring and they said they were just hanging around waiting for such an offer because they had been thinking about leaving for a long time. These are the ones we're glad are leaving because they have just been lousy directors and good to see them go.

Agree with you. There’s no need for so much negativity here, this is a sensitive and probably a difficult decision to make. For those staying including this ridiculously negative poster, best of luck to you. We volunteers aren’t bad people or bad employees, just taking advantage of our rights

To you Mr/Ms Negative, you need to get back to work since you’re so much better than us.

I do not know why people are so negative against those who did take the offer. Be glad that they did as they may have saved your silly negative $$s. Yes, maybe there are some that were just hanging around or maybe even some who were already planning to retire (good for them - they get a bonus). But there are many people leaving who were in key positions and did excellent work. Hopefully to ever they turnover their work to, can provide the same service to Sabre and customers.

Whats sad is the vast number of people that were offered 39 weeks or better and they still didn't take it. They deserve all thats coming to them

Then what was the point of giving severance package of 39 weeks. They could have lay-off those people without any severance. Win win for them. 39 week salary from Sabre and another second job in few months.

It's not so wrong. Many of the directors took the retirement package because they were just hanging around because they had nothing better to do. These packages get rid of the people who don't really want to be here anyways.
