All the money for union dues and the hump yards are still closed down without any recourse.

@ckp, you are a fool. The unions are the only thing that keeps our wages above minimum wage. The so-called conservatives would destroy the middle class if they could, all to line the pockets of the rich.

The UAW and the entitlement mindset of union employees is what destroyed the American auto industry. GM especially. Overcompensated employees sitting around in break rooms, putting sandwiches in dashboards because they think it’s funny.
An agreement employee can steal, fraudulently use a company credit card, or get one of their agreement brothers injured or ki---d duty and they get put right back to work putting everyone else at risk.
Do unions along with liberal lawmakers will eventually ruined the railroads. So much for capitalism and the free market.
The only thing that would destroy Amazon is if they hired the Union Pacific CEO. Otherwise they’ll be fine. They have smart executives there with long term thinking. Amazon lost money for several years at the beginning because they had a long term goal in mind. Now they’re the best. UP leadership has the attention span of a fly and only cares about today.
The writer of this post is either clueless, a mo--n, someone that doesn’t work for a railroad and has never been in a union, or a combination of all the above.
If the railroads weren’t unionized the workers would be making $15.09 per hour with no health insurance. The union aren’t always great, but the alternative is far worse.
Why because the workers want to earn a living wage? I’m sure both companies can afford to bump pay especially Amazon. Check out their CEO salaries I’m sure that’s where the problem is. I’m not even a super pro union individual but the pay gap at most companies is very concerning. Now if both said companies were failing financially i would feel for them but they are not. If companies would pay people a living wage just imagine how great our country would be. End poverty for many Americans meaning less taxes the working people would have to pay due to not as many people needing govt assistance, healthcare, childcare, etc. Instead just a few gather all the wealth and create hardships for the majority. IMO
