Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

What is going on

I’m with E&I and my entire department got the rude, vague message. I knew something fishy was going on a month after the CEO was ki-led. Anyone else notice funky things happening? Meetings being cut, stricter all of a sudden rules, attitudes have changed, the culture changed?

Yes, very different vibe since BT. We found out about him from the media before the meeting to notify us, town hall a few days later was rescheduled to over a month later. Past the notification meeting, anything we found out about BT was through the media. Totally swept under the rug. They cut overtime. They've been taking stuff away and piling work outside our job description without proper promotion, 1% raises despite 3s plus on MAPS reviews, and now this. They're not acting like their public image has tanked after BT and everything it exposed. Investigations, settlements, denied claims and delayed treatments. After defending the company and my own position to people outside for months, carrying the shame of their sins and corporate greed, this is what we get.

@ck+1jmdtnz5y I have been wondering for years how Optum gets away with allowing foreign eyes on PHI of government run insurance. (Medicare Advantage is just a TPA for Medicare). People squawking that they don’t want DOGE to see their SSN, while millions of Americans have not only their SSN, but also all of their PHI splashed all over multiple continents, some countries very friendly with China.

Tara, if you do a story please include how more of our jobs are being shipped offshore for cheap labor; India, Philippines, etc. The American people may be surprised that all of their private information and medical records are being viewed/accessed offshore.

To the poster of "What is going on": My name is Tara Bannow and I'm a reporter at STAT. I'm trying to learn about the voluntary separation notices and the broader changes that you've noticed at UnitedHealthcare since Dec. 4. If you're willing to talk to me, please email me at tara.bannow@statnews.com. Thank you!

January was quit because not because it’s the busy season. It was the planning season for the cuts.
