I have a meeting today. Scheduled very late night. 90% chance being cut. I will come back to update if it's true. People in US already were told to retire if they can. Being in Tech or in low cost center does not save you.

@da OP here again - it's as you say, I was checking something quickly, so next day I don't waste time and know where to start, then I notice meeting invitation. I dropped everything, logged off, went to sleep. Package was generous, so can't complain. I won't specify location, but it was low cost center and not in US.
@cj I think they meant they got the invite very late at night. At least that is how I read it - like the manager sent it very late so they would get it first thing in the morning. Perhaps they checked their phone. I "used to" do that...
Why join a late night meeting. I'm only reachable during contracted hours.
Which location, name the city please
OP here. Quick termination meeting. Good luck to those that stay. I am out.
The problem with putting in for retirement is you don't get a severance package other than the unused vacation/holiday pay (unless you're a an anointed one SVP+) . It's better to be RIF'd. You get the severance, plus unused vacation, healthcare extension to your termination date, plus the ability to file for unemployment. I asked to be RIF'd at the beginning of Feb., but HR came back & said we don't do that (BS).
You got a meeting scheduled - did it say "catch up"?
