Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Did they even call anyone today 1/8

Did anyone actually get a call about closing their store today or was that another lie?

Most stores knew in July, Colleagues were told.
Then 16 more stores were told in November.
Package info should be emailed to colleagues by 1/10
They all start liquidation 1/13, stores go dark 3/23. They will keep some colleagues thru
3/31
After 3/31 if you accepted package, you will receive it.
Wishing the best to any colleagues who have been affected.

@df+1jh49hgqr That wasn’t the initial intention, there were some very high level folks that caused the delay. It was intended to follow the historical norm of right before inventory last year. This year is back to the traditional cadence. Best of luck to everyone impacted.

@cj+1jh49hgqr They liquidate the store with everything in it, the store’s merch is sold to the liquidator. Doing inventory is just additional employee cost.

I would think that any store that will be liquidated would have to do inventory first for accounting purposes

People at corporate are taking their time and sharing information because those at the top have decided not to. Let’s not blame them for trying to help. It’s not uncommon for dates to change around announcements. They do it all the time. One thing we know for certain is that it’s coming. I hope those affected stores aren’t made to go through inventory but it’s looking like they may ….

We are going off the company portal that clearly states today, 1/8, stms would be called...not a site full of rumors...a site full of questions that we have to put together answers to because our company chooses not to disclose information until your signing your severance package!

No call at my store but still feels like it's coming...lots of secrecy happening from people that luckily didn't choose acting careers! The signs are in their faces!

They did the same thing last year, there was a last minute change and they delayed the closings by a week.. made those poor stores do inventory too.
