Looks like some are remote. Interesting.

@tj i know managers who don't live near an office who have said they will quit if streaming tech is forced to RTO. what i heard is that the higher up you are, the less likely you are to get an exemption

@qa yeah, that's why i started almost immediately after RTO was announced even though I knew I was in phase 2. i actually already left and am about to start a new job, the job market is tough but it's def doable.

@pg Oooof. If attitudes are shifting, it would mean they will prob announce remote has to RTO later this year. But there is NO WAY some managers will ever move from the south/midwest to no-land and 1/4 of the house they had and commutes in NYC/NJ. And then they will be given exemptions and just have to come in once a month. Watch.

@pg can’t wait to leave as an FTE in streaming tech. Wish the job market wasn’t so tough, applying like crazy.

@kv oh i absolutely agree, but the house of cards has already fallen down. i don't think the company understands that they either have to pay more or allow remote; ellison seems dead set on forcing RTO and streaming tech leadership (HW tone has shifted drastically) seems to have caved.

everyone i've talked to who is FTE in streaming tech has left, is leaving, or is considering it.

@k1 they can’t bring everyone back in streaming tech without the house of cards falling down.

If they want to compete with likes of Netflix and YouTube, there are only two paths. A lot higher pay for NYC/LA/SF talent or remote.

If we’re cutting costs, seems like only one path.

@e6 sorry but based on my experience no lawyer wants to bother with these cases

@ch within streaming tech AFAIK the remote is only a temporary compromise, it's more of they don't know how they can bring everyone back yet

Yup, just saw a Skydance game developer job posted on LinkedIn as fully remote. Interesting that Streaming Tech can supposedly only be successful with “in person collaboration” while other tech roles don’t require that.

@a6 1000% and some teams and functions have already been exempted from rto. Company doesn't announce that of course.
