Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Makes zero sense

Why do so many companies think that getting rid of experienced workers will fix problems created not by them but by bad management? I've been through this in several companies, Juniper included. The management fu--s up and we're the ones who pay the price. Not even the newer employees, only those who have been here for a while. It makes zero sense.

I am so glad I no longer work for this joke of a company. They are so badly managed it is not funny. Every October is the same, lackluster performance and layoffs. Juniper could easily be a $10b company by now, if it had a decent set of managers. Run by finance and Sales Ops. Anyone in Sales, please leave, you are wasting your talent

That is true of any company. The loyalty aspect.

anyone who still thinks there is any loyalty between a company and your is delusional. You can't trust anyone in management as they are all out for themselves in the end. The company wants you to be loyal, a good "citizen" but will drop you at a heartbeat for a dollar more profit or as said to cover up lackluster management at the top. Juniper was fun but now that I am gone I can see why it never caught up to Cisco. No spark at the top just engineers who lack any real fo-e site, no drive to be the best, satisfied with being number three (HP sells more networking ) and then making excuses about why that is. Juniper had a window in the mid nineties to bust out but the was then as now ran by Engineers and lack luster sales management more concerned with their options than the growth over the long term of the company. Having been at Cisco for the first decade I can say that there is no comparison to how Cisco took the market and Juniper. Juniper just doesn't get it.

In Juniper's recent downsizing, they needed to recoup $ in lack of sales. It's all about staying in business. Really hated getting laid off, but it's only business. Work is always for sale, so I'll just move along....

Check other comments. They laid off tons of new employees. Seems like they were hired for that purpose only.

It is all about money and nothing more.

I agree with you, but companies only see $$$
