Tariffs are very much about Intel and not in a good way in the short term either.

They will reduce overall chip demand (where they last more than a day or two) due to uncertainty about placing orders. Everyone will pull back (btw, that is deflationary).
Intel imports a lot of chips, typically for the newest products, so even more profit loss.

It does seem semi tariffs are coming and hard to see how they don't stick around, because unlike out major trading partners in CN and MX, semi tariffs are about offsetting mercantilist policy in Asia and need to be long lasting to have any effect.

That's unlikely to be negotiated away any time soon.

Eventually Intel should pick up Foundry customers, but that will take a few years to bring them in and shift production.

So in the short term, tariffs likely tank the semi sector, including Intel.

But it absolutely the best policy. Way better than the socialist Chips Act.

Intel can use Gov't Cheese, but it would be better helped by leveling the playing field.

Ya. Okay. You're one of those people who'll find any excuse to maintain a cr-ppy status quo. Very narrow comfort zone

He can just ask for things, no need to threaten with tariffs to get what he wants. That is why it's important to be a reliable ally rather than scaring countries away to becoming China's trade partners.

Let’s do that. I know it’s an uncomfortable truth to acknowledge this president actually negotiates on his constituents behalf v just giving sh-t away. I’m confident calling this out knowing most of this audience WFH and presumably is close to their favorite safe space at any time

Mexico's president commits 10,000 troops to stop flow of fentanyl and illegal immigrants. This is what negotiating on behalf of the American people looks like. A big fat middle finger to the deranged subversives on this board :)
