I started to hear rumors that an LR is in the works for 2HFY26. With the government shutdown, bookings could be soft. If there is a smoke, there is fire somewhere.

@ce is 100% accurate. There is little hope for US, and especially San Jose based staff in terms of growth. One exception- Swiss site is even more expensive but they have a sugar daddy supporting them in ELT. Beyond that, it’s going to be all Bangalore based. In Networking BUs, there has not been one single San Jose hire in 2+ years.
If you look carefully though, when there is a layoff of (say) a G11 experienced tech lead in San Jose, the org will open a G8 or at most G10 in India. So that’s a double whammy in terms of loss of experience and talent.
There isn't really anything to wonder about Cisco HR anymore:
Headcount in North America is either getting LRd or attrition-with-no-backfill
Hiring continues in Bangalore, literally weekly
The only thing left to wonder is if Cisco will abandon North American labor entirely or retain some ru-p staff here for appearances
I hope they layoff in Q2, Q3 and Q4! The odds are actually being loaded into Polymarket as we speak mfs!!
Historically govt shutdowns have not impacted the economy. Highly doubtful
Depending on what org you work in, bookings are fine maybe slightly better than last year at least at the current rate. Public sector/SLED might have issues with a shutdown but a government shutdown won’t last several months
LRs don't need triggers in Cisco. if there's a Y in the day, ELT is thinking about laying some people off.
What a bunch of bS….the gov shutdown is now going to trigger an LR? Do you even work at Cisco?
Second half of FY26, or Q2 (November)?
