Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell generosity

We should thank Dell for the paychecks—they're basically stress relief in direct deposit form. No matter how hard we work on a doomed project in ISG , the result is still a beautiful failure... but at least we’re getting paid to watch it crash in style!

I'm on the boat until it sinks or until they throw me overboard.

The Dell ISG experience can be summed up as a very colossal DEATHMARCH!

Ah yes, the classic ‘be grateful you get a paycheck’ mindset the same logic that kept serfs farming castles they didn’t own. Meanwhile, leadership cashes in on failure while we’re expected to applaud stability disguised as stagnation. But hey, at least we get paid to watch the ship sink, right?

I have been here more years than you can count with your fingers and toes. What used to be was that we push out products that sold brilliantly, we report status and the upper management cheered us on. Cluelessly but they do support our effort. Now the upper management wants to dictate what we do and how we do it. Things get delayed or cancelled. Yes we still get a paycheck, so no complains. The leaders still get their hefty bonus and promotions for all these initiatives that go nowhere. So a win-win situation? Ha!

CyberRecovery is an example of a doomed product.

But really, are there any new successful projects? I’ve been working for the company for 8 years now and started as a TSE on new products and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is being (was) discontinued .

I’ve seen brilliant devs being laid off. Then engineering working different time zones when we desperately needed them to help with our hot issues during our shifts. Our customers were hating the new products and issues. The negativity we had to deal with on a daily basis.

No one knew anything about anything. Everyone still tried to do their best to make the product successful but the lack of anything and everything just made it impossible. All issues were reported to management but nothing was done. The good managers were replaced.

And it happened time and time again. The new managers made it even worse because they had no clue how things were working.

WHAT THE HE-L upper management??? What the he-l?

Way to stay positive! The managers are definitely never going to admit that they’re driving a ghost ship with a skeleton crew. That’s the only thing keeping many teams limping along.
