Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

How is adding an ELT member for Penny’s office aligned with ER? So what is she actually doing?

Is anyone else wondering how adding a new member to ELT – someone who manages the managing partner’s office – is helping accomplish a stated goal of enterprise reimagined (reducing the number of leaders)? And really, if our managing partner needs help managing her office PLUS a consulting firm to figure out how to run the firm, what is she actually doing? We know she’s giving constant interviews. We know she collects a massive bonus. Does she have any knowledge or interest in the people who work in the firm and the impact her actions are having on us? We have lives and families.

@mj I don’t think tenured employees who ask tough questions are the target of ER. Tenured employees who don’t like being questioned because they don’t have any answers despite being here for decades on the other hand…🤔

It’s called out with the old and in with the new. They do not wanted tenured associates because tenured associates tend to ask questions that leadership does not like to answer. Tenured associates often hold leadership accountable, they do not like to be held accountable. Our tenured associates, including those in the branches, truly do not like where our firm is heading, especially with all the changes, and when they voice this, they are quick to silence them. The high level FAs in a particular state are a great example of this when they recently banded together to voice their concerns to leadership about where the firm is headed. Our firm is no longer the firm it use to be…. it’s been infiltrated by outsiders who are trying their best to “reimagine” the destruction of a once respected firm. I once told my FA we would be sorry that they chose PP as the new MP. I told him she would destroy our firm. He laughed at that …. he recently retired and called me to tell me I was right.

I have met the Chief of Staff on TH’s team. He comes across as a glorified secretary. God help us!

Not a new role . T.H. Has been on ELT for sometime since PP put her there. The question is how is that an ELT role? Jim had his man Bob who went to ELT meetings but he was a member of ELT. When we have been questioning all these partner roles asking are they really partner roles maybe same question should be asked are these really ELT roles?

You obviously don't know how power works in large company or politics. You surround yourself with yes men and get rid of threats (or talent). My guess is that the people she has on her ELT are so weak she makes a play at extending the 65 mandatory retirement.

They appear to be adding these Chief of Staff type positions all over the place. Every ELT member seems to be getting one. I guess having entire divisions of leaders and associates at your beck and call isn't good enough.
