Here in the Midwest, it's been 85-90+ for most of the month with humidity at 70%+. I'm BOH and literally dripping sweat before I've been here an hour. It's cooler on the dock than 2nd floor. Unconscionable that the A/C is not kept on during these heat waves. But I have a coin!!!!!!

Interesting that they said they were using money from the closing stores being sold off to reinvest in upgrades in the go forward stores.
AC stopped working in 4 stores in GA.
When I used to work for Macy’s in South Carolina, our store would easily be the hottest department store in the mall and we had Sears, Belk, JCPenney, and Dillard’s with Dillard’s being the coldest!
We were always told that our chiller was a preowned by another Macy’s store from years ago.
But 74 degrees can kick rocks!
The regional and divisional Ops peiple need to make bonus for reducing cost. Take a look around thats not the only thing thats not running like it should.
OSHA doesn't care about heat/cold
They could give a damn whether you drop over.
call osha
I don't know how people in the south and west can work since it's hotter there. Macy's temp set point is now 74 degrees which is still too warm to be comfortable. Our store is easily the warmest store in the mall.
@cb Of course it is. The only time that we had adequate ventilation was post covid when they cranked up the system to be OSHA compliant.
Pray for a corporate visit. This is the only way the AC ever seems to mysteriously "work" at my store. The AC will be up and running early in the morning- not the usual "crank it up" just as the store opens and the "turn off" an hour before the store closes.
Oh, and if you complain- make sure that your co-workers back you up and complain as well- otherwise they will think it's just you having a "hot flash". And make sure that you say "customers" are complaining rather than yourself- that seems to at least generate a "work order".
When I was a kid we would all go to the mall to cool off when we couldn't get to the beach. My, how times have changed.
