Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Layoffs Q1 2025 for MA?

Anyone have thoughts around if there will be a high number of MA employees laid off right before or after we are acquired by HCSC? The office hours didn't quite give me the warm and fuzzies. Neither does my leader, he makes me feel like I need to polish up my resume.

Most of the rumors I hear is that MA is safe (from layoffs) and slightly growing to fill in all the attrition of people leaving due to the HCSC divesture. Some of the rumors I hear is that there will major layoffs due to the sale. It's hard to discern what is true or not. My personal feeling is despite all the lies Cigna has told employees, this one (being safe and valued by HCSC) seems the most credible as their is substance and logic behind it. By comparison to all of Cigna other talking points like FOW, Silent Layoffs, offshoring, and vitality is full of cooperate speak, vaporware, and BS.

I don’t know… they are actively taking FTEs from non-MA depts to give to MA. Nothing surprises me anymore.

The answers about the layoffs from Cigna is about what you can expect. They expect vast majority of employees to transition over, but cannot guarantee layoffs wont happen. Bottom line is that there will always be uncertainty with Mergers & Acquisitions…

Someone reading these posts knows what's coming next layoff round and what roles should be most concerned. Nobody at work openly talking about it, are we just waiting too see how many quit after fow rules implemented in june or have the names already been selected?

Leaders are privileged to information that we employees are not. For a leader to suddenly "voluntarily" leave, it's a STRONG indication that the future is not as green as leaders are leading us to believe.

Do you think leadership is miserable and they’re just pushing it down? Or do you think it’s more involved than that? For instance leadership is scared to death about being let go themselves that they’re just hoping to scare everyone to performing? We all know that doesn’t work. I just wonder what the motivation would be.

People under MA aren’t leaving because they don’t want to go to HCSC. We want nothing more then to leave Cigna and go to HCSC. The problem is Cigna is making it so unbearable to work for them that they are trying to force us to quit. I say we all hold on, do the bare minimum and transition to HCSC or make Cigna lay us off and give us severance. We deserve it. Don’t let Cigna push you out!

I don’t think there will be layoffs in MA at all. I think some talent will resign and go elsewhere because they don’t want to move to HCSC and there will be some turnover related to the audit. I think we are already seeing some audit fall out. If there were to be layoffs they would be in Q3 or Q4 and will be dependent upon what HCSC wants.

These audit results aren’t in yet it’s possible HCSC could back out of renegotiate the deal if the audit wasn’t to standard.

Good point. I am sure HCSC would not want to have to pay the severance for Cigna employees either. So you would would think that if you convey over, likely they would keep you.

If both companies are playing fair, HCSC will let cigna know who will not be retained a couple of months before the sale is finalized.
These employees would then be eligible for cigna severance.

A key piece to watch for is whether hcsc gets the Nashville office in the deal. If they do, retention will be high. If they do not, a bunch of people will likely be eliminated.
