Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

CoB Manifold was unjustly removed by KD

KD is showing her real nature and ability to sow and create chaos. KD is directly responsible for withholding BL indiscretions and now for removing Manifold with out cause. Another 10 million quid lawsuit

@ay I guess if that were true they would have fired Gilvary years before he became CFO, such BS, there are shorty bullies all over BP, the executive and board only ousted this guy because he wanted things to change.

@ca Excellent comment. Sums it up beautifully. Too much 'woke' nonsense over the past six years.

@bz disagree… this is not a team of engineers. It’s an executive boards who each have decades of experience with zero proven performance/delivery.

Change requires discomfort and difficult decisions … that doesn’t come at the expenses of respect. BP execs still haven’t fully disclosed what exactly AM has done whereas AM has disclosed what we already knew… a highly dysfunctional leadership team who do not care for anything except themselves.

@bz Honestly, stop justifying this bollocks. Bottom line is the board has options to solve things without affecting the share price, and chose the one that hits my own pocket. Don't excuse breach of fiduciary duty, and plain daft behaviour, because of some silly playground politics.

If you go around being aggressive and overbearing, then no one does question your behaviour to your face …..because of the environment you’ve created. The best leaders create environments where people are prepared to give you honest feedback. The fact nobody said anything and the first AM heard about it was the entire board turning against him speaks volumes. He is just trying to save his business career by clutching at straws.

@OP AM has issued another statement. It sounds like he identified problems in the company, and he makes good points. I respect him for turning down a private jet and chauffeur. A lot of the style over substance stuff started with Lord Browne. BL took it further with his woke nonsense.

Here's the extract:-

"...Today, the 63-year-old said he found a company that 'lacked strategic cohesion and direction… [and] lacked clarity on messaging, urgency of delivery, and I believe those issues could have impacted shareholders' interests.'

He said that he sought to 'accelerate cost reduction' and eschewed a chauffeur and private jet to 'set an example'. He also referred to BP's plans to lay off 'thousands of people', which has not previously been reported.

Manifold said that at no point during his time at BP did anyone raise concerns about his behaviour.

He added: 'Indeed, in my 40-year working career, I have never once had accusations made against me such as those made in recent days. I dispute entirely this characterisation of my conduct.' "

@OP Why was KD withholding info on BL's indiscretions? Apparently, BL was questioned by the Board about his personal relationships with employees as part of the CEO recruitment process. Then, he was questioned by Freshfields in May 2022, and then they were brought back in at September 2023, but BL flounced out the door before they could interview him. The only thing no one seems to know is whether or not KD was involved with BL.

Interestingly, AM has instructed law firm Mischcon de Raya, which is the legal firm BL used when the sh*t hit the fan. That didn't work out too well, did it.

AM appears to have been acting more like a CEO than a chairman. I wonder what role MO has played in this.

They get paid enough to shout at each other, it's not a crèche. They don't get paid to tank the share price with playground drama. This board crusade to smear each other out, give it a rest before the pensioners come for you.

I’m not sure you have any details to be commenting on that unless you’re posting as a secret AM.

Several eye witnesses of the aggressive shouting in SJS.

If I aggressively shouted at any of my colleagues at any point then I would be expecting to be fired.

Same thing. But I agree that KD along with many other of the C-Suite are a shambles.
