Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

May Layoff is Happening 100%

Workday IT support and legal have reviewed everything. They are now testing the data loads into workday. Pipeline is built out and the final kinks are being worked out now. Its been 6 months since the last one, most leaders are worried, on high alert, and ready for movement to get going next week. Lists were made a couple months ago based on the scripting and code prompts being run in workday for testing the last 2-3 weeks. If your manager doesn't think this is true they just have their head in the sand. Q1 results good or bad would change stop this from happening, this is Dan's plan "cut cut cut and cut so more". We took on billions in new debt, cutting employees is the only way to pay that back. Expect another one next quarter before the stock grant is given in October.

Our department in Lake Mary was hit really hard during the last layoff in November, so my colleagues think we won’t lose anyone this time, but I disagree. I don’t think that is relevant. I hope I’m on the list because the work environment has changed drastically for the worse over the last year or so.

@d0 big mistake! You should’ve stuck around one more week to see if you could have collected a big fat severance check before starting your new job!

I am leaving the company tomorrow, my last day. I had a meeting with ED today and that person told me there are no layoffs coming that they are aware of. So it seems like all this is nonsense.

Heard from mgmt, end of May is next wave of layoffs. It is not across the board, but there will be RIF. No way to confirm, as this is not something even AD could confirm beyond this. GNT.

Most post are mentioning may7 here, so don’t know which one it is. It could be different orgs on different days.

Yeah.. yeah.. RIF’s are guaranteed to happen. What will the excuses be when a week from now still no RIF’s? Same story since January:

Just a heads up. I posted a lot of details on this thread earlier today and the post was deleted in seconds. 👀 wonder who is moderating this. I didn’t disclose names or anything that would be a clear violation. Just well backed up facts. But yes haters, OP is in the know. This is a layoff bored if you don’t want to read about new developments leave the site.

Confirmed with a band 5 I know. Layoff is definitely happening. The fake news people on this site are just trolls looking to bate people. Must be bored.

My manager seems to think so and based on my observations the company seems ready to go. Most layoffs happen after the earnings call, and travel has been paused through June... so you tell me how the company is not doing layoffs. Its obviously happening, saving money with no travel in Q2 is a great way to help payout packages.

@b8 I will tell you! There will be no layoffs in the month of May. Now if you choose not to believe me fine, but what I just said is a fact.

@b8 My band 6 director already told me that things will “shift” on first week of May. I do not need validation from anyone else. He does not himself know who will be on the list including himself

the discussions here are so strange.
people yell "fake", regardless how much information people include in their post.
outside of saying "hey, this is Tony, here's my signature", what would stop that reflexive "fake news" response?
Yes, there will be a RIF. Yes, notification is a week from today. Yes, the lists have been finalized weeks ago. Yes, the data has been loaded into the systems.

Almost no Band 6 has been briefed, that will be Monday. Every Band 5 should know by now in all the detail (unless their team is unaffected). So talk to your Senior Director (or up) and ask them to tell you straight on that there will be no announcement on May 7. See what they say.

Clearly all the down votes are managers at the top level and HR staffers paid to say this is fake. Based on there being more down votes id say this post is closer to the truth than what executives what the workforce to know. We will see in a week, May 7th has been floated... im starting to believe the hype.

Yeah this is fake. There are teams posting about volunteering right now instead of actually working. Not a surprise. Nobody is worried about layoffs cause they ain’t happening!

Keep in mind, direct managers may not be aware their team is affected. Purely up to the execs to communicate that information. If not, they would get told the day before the actual notifications. Results are irrelevant these days.

Always be prepared.
Get the resume updated.
Abuse the free training available.
Get the certs.

Most of frontiers work is automated (cuts/removals etc) So I would imagine as things get integrated whatever verizon doesn't use will get moved over to improve the process.
