Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

US EMPLOYEES

AI is not the only one replacing US employees most jobs are being sent to Bangalore India. Doing layoffs here and there so they don’t have to report massive layoffs. Also new initiative to push for teams to be at the same location. If you are working at a different location then everyone else on your team you will be let go eventually.

Interest rates went up, bullsh-t jobs disappeared. Simple as that.

What caused all this job market damage? Corruption in hiring and outsourcing, corrupt projects funding, too much politics at work, deep pockets and other hidden frauds.

Can confirm too there is a location strategy about to go live… lots of work behind the scenes.

Many years ago, each office was a "hub" for certain departments/orgs. Then, they opened the Austin office (and eventually Atlanta) to move roles to cheaper markets. And, they hired in cheaper markets in the U.S. (cheaper than NY, SF/FC and Ashburn) further splintering teams. Managers were told to open new roles in these cheaper markets despite employees complaining for years (yes, even pre-pandemic).

There is a reorg initiative happening due to the location strategy and shuffling around of SVPs/VPs.

Makes sense. I don't see Visa removing all/most employees from anywhere outside Asia and Poland, but I do see hiring only to the point of filling space. I know several offices in the US are increasing RTO days slowly, but I understand from colleagues that offices like Denver have half the capacity required for a full RTO and can not increase RTO days beyond 50/50 as a result.

Now, does that mean mass layoffs somewhere like Denver? Maybe. But I see leadership continuing the path of slow layoffs, rehire in Asia, until available space matches headcount.

Then the next part, when space opens do we backfill with increased numbers of H1B employees?

I can see the argument that all of this is better for the shareholders, arguably at least in the short term. I don't know...I feel like leadership has a short term focus on employment challenges, so that makes the most sense to me. Personnel are typically a corporations biggest expense.

If people being laid off are not informed by this month end then the next round will start in October probably, in sync with year end performance

There are costs associated cof cof I mean productivity, not everyone remote will be affected, specially if have a lower salary( I mean productivity )than the other location.

Morale is down, townhall and leadership AMA are all about how can we replace everyone with AI.

So if my entire team is in San Francisco and I am remote, i will be let go at some point? We have one team member in NY but the rest are in SF.

Can confirm the push for teams to be in the same location. Tech leaders have been working on new org charts since late last year.
