Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Michael Dell said Meta's AI hiring spree could raise questions of fairness among employees

Maybe MD should worry more about the culture at his own company and not worry about what Meta is doing.

@b6 did he write that book before or after the SEC fined him and Dell Inc. $104 million for FRAUD?

Play "nice"; what a joke! What an absolute canker this man is. What a parasite!

MD is worth $125,000,000,000+. That's EXACTLY why he's growing verklempt: he made his billions primarily through EXPLOITATION, pure and simple.

He is a bad man.

Can Dell pay senior data scientists $1.5M a year? It could but won’t. That’s just the starting salary too.

Caveat - BI relies on disgruntled employees for sources. So they may not always be accurate. Although under media outlets usually pick up a story after BI

"selling $1.5 billion every quarter in stocks is normal"

Yes it is. They are pre-planned, reviewed and approved by the SEC long before the trade is executed. He doesn't get to choose the day/number he makes the trade on. You may want to look into 10b5-1 to understand how it works before you comment.

@c3 selling $1.5 billion every quarter in stocks is normal but when employees are paid $200m that is inappropriate.

He's referring to the engineer they paid $200M to get from Apple. That isn't normal.

MD treats everyone fairly. Everyone gets treated like sh-t. No discrimination.

LoL. The logic here is astounding from this MD clown.

we should pay them equally less cause having some make more will make some jealous.

Next he will decry companies having too much profit/success will have an unfair advantage cause they are able to hire the best and the brightest.

The hypocrisy in his comments is hilarious! His ideology is simply: pay talented people as little as possible, I keep the lion’s share of the winnings and hope the staff don’t notice!

He’s also paying lip service to his “friend” Elon by publicly bashing Zuck. Whatever you think of these two, they are advancing incredible & exciting technology.

Look in the mirror Mike - you’re now irrelevant and it hurts, we get it!

I bet Zuck hired Sudhir - that's what set Michael Dell on fire: he knows Dell's toast now. Sudhir will create a gazillion of agentic Sudhirs with the help of Meta AI and they will be way more nimble than Michael Dell can ever imagine.

The Zuck should read Michael's book "Play Nice But Win". I quote passages from Michael's book to my team during meetings.

“It’ll be a challenge culturally for sure,” Dell said. He pointed out that the generous salaries of new AI hires could lead to unhappiness and resentment among existing employees. This could potentially create a long line of “complaining” employees outside Zuckerberg’s office, demanding fair treatment.

Dell emphasized the importance of fairness in the workplace, stating, “People generally have a sense of fairness, right? They want to be treated fairly relative to others and relative to the opportunities that they have out there in the overall market.”

From the article one of the best Pot calling the kettle black.

Emphasizing the importance of fairness in the workplace, he stated “People generally have a sense of fairness, right?

Like anything done with employees at Dell was ever fair????

he does live in his own brain trust.
Really should be concerned about what is occurring with his own company.

Here’s a link to the same topic that does not require a subscription.

The rich guy is worried that a richer guy is paying his talent too much. Maybe Meta treats people better than Dell… which quite frankly I’ll bet MD is nicer to his grounds keeping staff at his several houses then he is to his Dell minions.

Not that I should criticize, I never built a company more valuable than a $25 lemonade stand. But MD needs to realize that Meta is a $1.8 trillion dollar firm. Dell is at $86 billion.

Someone is doing something right. Or at least not as wrong as leaving the sword of Damocles constantly over the heads of employees.

They have successfully chased what ever talent there was at Dell long time ago, and now they are complaining about Metas recruiting practice. This is Pathetic just like AI initiatives at Dell.
