Why do some people feel SPECIAL that they can spend the entire day in a focus room rather than the intended max 2 hours?
It’s not your private office!

I would go into Space Finder and book a conference room and I’m not ashamed to say it. The Severance-like, open, fluorescent light hellscape that was the building I worked in was made slightly better by reserving an open room where I could work in peace.
The most weak, tired excuse of them all "well we did it this way in the past...".
You used to cr-p your pants once upon a time. Are you still doing it now?
Maybe that's why folks are booking rooms away from you?
@a3 does no one remember that we did this pre covid and it was just fine and normal?? We all worked in cube games 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. And it was fine. It was just what we did. Now snowflakes can’t deal with traffic, having desk neighbors etc for three days a week
Funny how they don't think we can hear them while they're in there. We hear your yelling at your wife, watching youtube or clipping your nails.
Guilty :(
I do it because there a lot of Indians on my floor and they reek like sh-t.
I take one for the day, every day I can. You really think I'm going to associate with the plebians in their little desk farms?
Laughable.
OP, what’s your problem? You don’t get there first or can’t find a focus room when you get in? Try another floor. I don’t see how anyone camped out in focus rooms is anyone’s business. Unless you literally can’t find one. If that’s the case, your CPG is squeezing your campus. Complain. I hate coming in the office with the new setup. I don’t work with people as an independent, individual contributor and I don’t want to talk to you, listen to your id--tic small talk or your constant chomping, complaining or gossip. Be glad I’m corralled away from you or I’d be planning your next coffee accident.
If someone wants to make a room their own let them. Clearly they are struggling and need to focus. Wtf!
These people in Iselin are the absolute worst. They work in the dark with the lights off to try to go unnoticed. CPG knows and refuses to police it.
#wellsfargoshitshow in action.
Punk them. Go in there and sit down and work if it’s been over two hours. They open their mouth rip azz or don’t say anything. What do you have to loose?
Most of the equipment in the cube farms is broke anyways so why not if I don’t get a headset or monitor in the first place? Rather be around less germs and get work done in peace.
Sad that professionals are having to fight over a sliding glass door. Conference rooms are full of squatters, too. No problem execs. I will just have that confidential conversation at full volume while sitting in the cube farm seat du jour. Going to my car does not count in the 8 hours.
Try getting in before 9:30. I get in at 6 am and straight to a focus room.
Iselin is notorious for that. What a dump Iselin is.
@ae right there with you. I’m on calls all day and I also get in at 6:30am
F cube farms. I support everyone doing what they can to avoid them. I'd rather work in a broom closet.
If you think the l-wlifes hanging out in the focus rooms all day are doing so because they are such hard workers, youre a mo--n.
If I get there early enough and I have actual calls to be on vs some who are scrolling on social media all day long, I’m gonna take the focus room. Bye.
Germ avoidance.
Maybe print out official-looking notices that hi beyond whatever is there already.
Totally agree on the stupid set up we are forced to work in with lots of noise. Focus rooms should be available when anyone needs to be laser focused to take a call or get a piece of work done. Problem is, if people are making it their private office, no one else can take that call they need quiet.
Sorry but it’s selfish when we all have to endure the same distractions.
When I'm in office id like to get work done. The giant open noisey floor filled with strangers loudly yacking all day without any partitions makes that nearly impossible. A quiet focus room makes the otherwise neigh unusable office functional.
Who is going to tell them to leave? Same with an office. I’ll admit I’ve camped out in an office all day. F it. No assigned cubes? Ok I’ll take what I want. People also camp out all day on conference rooms.
Can you call Cop?
They don’t think they’re special they just go there cause it’s open. Nothing stopping you from doing the same thing.
It’s absolutely obnoxious!
Maybe because it's impossible to focus if you're sitting in the middle of a "desk" farm?
