Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Less effort each time

Every single round of cuts made me care less. My work ethic has dropped with each one. I just don't see the point anymore.

No company culture survives the evolution to professional management.

When bureaucratic psychopathy replaces vision and leadership, things always revert to the human mean of master and slave relationship.

Unfortunately, the risk and fear of the unknown keeps even good people in an abusive relationship.

@OP You do not see the point?

The point is that you are paid very well, and therefore you have to do what the company tells you to do.

Simple, really.

I learnt a long time ago that voicing critical opinions or feelings only leads to repercussions further down the line.

I only express positive things nowadays and keep all negativity to myself.

Guess who is the quietest member of my team?

I want to learn how we can give up the sense of responsibility and just be careless. After all it takes a third of time in our daily life.

Our management is convinced that the SAP share price went up only because of layoffs in recent years. And layoffs is the only way to get the price up again. But they want layoffs next year not this year. Because that way, executives in the board and across all areas will make more money. Buy low now and sell high next year.

@d2 APAC there’s a certain ethnic group who’ve all just hired themselves into pretend VP roles. Or entire areas are just T2s who aren’t across what they need to do at all

@d2 And it isn't western countries vs eastern countries. It is Germany/Europe vs the world at the moment. They fired Mohd Alam as he was the only US citizen and only German citizens are now allowed on SAP's executive board.

In the last years, there has been more hiring in India. But also more firing in India. That is because European worker protections are strong and make it harder for SAP to fire Europeans wi--y nilly.

In the last compensation review, they targeted non-Europeans living in Europe and anyone who doesn't live in Walldorf or Sankt Leon Rot by giving them bad performance ratings and bad salary increments. I expect that this year it will be the same as there is a lot of pressure on managers to give bad performance reviews so employees can be fired in the toothbrushing exercise. I know that because this is happening in my area and I am a manager. It is very hard to give a fair share to employees who go beyond expectations. No one wants to work their a$$ off fora measly 1% more salary than average performance.

Apparently in India and China morale is still high.

No wonder they sack Westerners in favor of Asians.

It’s a paycheck and insurance. I know exactly how you feel, it su-ks to not have any passion or respect for the company you work for. It’s not just you and me, it’s like a epidemic in the US.
