@b8 Skydance cannot officially communicate with Paramount staff til tomorrow. That's when they officially own the company. Expect comms starting tomorrow. Gonna be interesting...
“Too many chiefs but not enouhg Indians” keeps coming up... Everyones whispering that skydance won’t tolerate the title inflation , ok... let’s see if that holds once the merger closes. Still no mention of tech leadership or what happens to the Cheeks-Robbins org structure. Radio silence on linear and cable teams too. That’s not an oversight - that’s a signal. Expect another wave after the deal closes. Cuts, consolidations, reorgs. And probably a few more farewell notes from folks with “EVP” in their email sigs.
Saw someone joke in Slack - “congrats to 10 people for surviving the Hunger Games.” Not far off.Stil no mention of what happens to the midlayer folks or grunts. And with Liza out, comms already looks like a cleanup zone.
This has all the signs of a top-heavy org built for boardrooms, not boots on the ground. Let’s see who actually makes it past Q1...

@ar The only people that have "Chair" in their titles are the people that are now running 1 of the 3 new company pillars -- Direct To Consumer (Cindy Holland), TV Media (linear & Cable & CBS Studios - George Cheeks) and Studios (Josh Greenstein & Dana Goldberg). Will be interesting to see who/where all the existing Paramount Leadership that reported to either McCarthy/Cheeks/Robbins report and prior CFO report to. Assuming we will start to get some news on that tomorrow.

@an Good point. Skydance is right. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians at Paramount. Inflated salaries, titles, and egos along with non-merit-based hiring and promoting.
@ak Mall has CMO of Skydance-Paramount in her title. Plus, companies WAY WAY bigger than Paramount have one CMO...not multiple CMO's like we have had. I think we will see in this new merger that Skydance is not going to tolerate all these people with inflated titles and salaries. I could be very wrong...just going on info I've learned how Skydance operates. They already think we have way too many people at this company.

@af If we have 5 CMO's that is pretty scary in and of itself. I imagine there will be 1 CMO for the entire company with some other marketing heads scattered in the various divisions.

I learned that my former dept head and EVP was shown the door recently. That's a good sign for those who are still there, IMO.

@a3 Curious about this one myself. Guessing she either reports to either Rebecca Mall or the new International guy. If it's Rebecca Mall, don't think that's going to last long.
They are announcing all the new people with GC as the exception. Expect them to announce at the latest tomorrow the rest of the leadership team.
@a7 yeah I’m expecting to see a full or partial outsourcing of tech functions. Whether that is good or bad is to be seen.
It's clear they are putting completely different senior leadership in 95% of the key leadership positions, which 100% makes sense. This company needs a new and fresh start. I'm sure there will be some existing Paramount senior leaders that will work for this group and there will probably be more that are going to be exited. It will become much clearer in the upcoming weeks.
The fact there has been no announcement about tech leads me to believe there is going to be a huge announcement after the deal closes. We all know there are issues with tech corp or platforms so there will be a change. Just how big that change will be is to be seen.
Any word on expansion for the streaming side despite potential cuts, elsewhere?
@a4 I don’t think those teams will stay intact. I think GC will announce changes after the close. He will want his people running the functions
Anyone notice that there’s zero mention of cable or linear in these articles? I know Cheeks is apparently overseeing, but wouldn’t he need a team? Unless, all those teams are staying intact? It’s definitely suspicious.
