Intel’s new CEO ‘isn’t thinking about massive changes’

This is just the warmup for the massive change that is coming..to the fabs.
it is inevitable
Remember, Soylent Green Is People.
many parts are edible
Let me guess. They are going to get rid most experienced people, know Intel products in the back of their hand. Then, hire cheap Indian H1-B visa to replace who knows nothing, but scheming to get promoted.
All the armchair CEO comments, when viewed in their totality, are equal parts artistic and pathological.
This is just second round within one year. More rounds to come but not sure how many. 12, 10 , 8 or 5 ?
@c3 Intel lost the cloud, remember?
Hopefully LBT will bring back cloud ranking, with the Bottom 5% bring terminated at least on a semiannual basis if not quarterly.
Bring back accountability and meritocracy.
@bz There have been times in the past where a person being made a dotted line was the setup for eventually pushing them out.
As a rule try to never be reporting to more than one manager or to be a dotted line to a manager. Be in the org.
Also, be sure that what you are working on is one of your managers objectives, or risk being pushed out.
I would see a lot of managers being moved to be dotted lines in the reporting structure as no different than making them reapply for their job. It is no different than when people are put on CPM then given a period of time to find a new role.
They may have done this to prevent managers from moving around in order to hide within the org.
@bz+1 No doubt with the ELT reporting changes and the expectation that middle management will be reduced, there is currently a game of musical chairs going on with a lot of managers, each trying to find a safe chair to land.
When this happens to line workers, they are not generally able to get out of the way but managers usually are those who have built influence networks, and they draw on them to move around as needed. Not as true for FLM or other junior managers.
Be interesting to see if LBT is able to offset that weaseling activity, and remove the less capable managers anyway. This could be the first of several attempts to purge ineffective managers, to be followed up with a more stringent performance review process.
Lax HR policies have seriously degraded the quality of both engineering and management throughout the company and I think it is safe to say that the grifters are everywhere at this point. But I also think that LBT will figure out how to purge them.
So is he flattening the management levels or not ? They will just get dotted reporting doing the same job , same pay and with no reports. Essentially a Program manager type role
So far LBT is not doing anything that massive.
He is just reorganizing. Even the 'layoffs' are not being handled in some dramatic way.
He appears to be methodically approaching what needs to be done and then moving, as opposed to the usual Intel way of rushing in and creating even more damage.
Got to remember at all times that he is a Venture Capitalist. He has spent decades working with organizations to improve operational effectiveness. The Board most likely brought him in to improve the cost effectiveness of various parts of the company. This is needed whether it is for the purpose of breaking up the company or some other ultimate goal.
I'm a simple man, I see a comment that starts with "I don't believe OP...", I down vote.
Not to mention everyone’s work load in those affected areas will double. Now doing two jobs but getting paid for one
So Intel lays off talented people and then goes on record saying they need to hire talented people. LOL. 🤡👞
On Tuesday, Zinsner blamed remote work for some of the company’s issues.
“We did have a number of the team that was not working on site full time,” he said. “I think to some degree that has inhibited us and impacted our ability to execute on road maps and process.”
I don’t believe OP even read the part behind the paywall.
