Trump tells Congress to end CHIPS Act

https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/03/04/trump-joint-address-to-congress/trump-tells-congress-to-end-chips-act-00212871

President Donald Trump in his joint address to Congress delivered his sharpest rebuke of the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act yet, telling lawmakers to “get rid” of the law while touting top Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC’s latest $100 billion investment in new U.S. factories.

RIP Intel

DJT is just finishing his generation’s work of exporting what The Greatest Generation worked so hard to hand to them.

Turned a silver platter into a p-o-p-o platter.

Thanks, Boomer, for the immersive experience into the fall of the Roman Empire!

TSMC gets $50B USD from Taiwan every year, and they want 'fairness' with US CHIPS Act? Okay, let's step back and give Intel, GF, TI and Micron all the US money and then more funding to get parity with all the perks given by Taiwan (and likewise Samsung/SK):

It will be years before TSMC builds plants. They’re just st-----g the dum--ss in charge. If we survive the damage, and chaos coming there may be a plant or 2. They are buying land getting tax breaks and they like all others are just trying to tiptoe around this guy to avoid immediate losses. I don’t know what’s going to happen, just be ready to stay in a job if possible because this id--t will do his best to remove all safety nets we had. Caligula in the white house

The entire chip sector is so sc--wed by the AI hype bubble that Intel’s complete demise during this period of time will only be referenced as a footnote. Any importance is simply self importance at this point

$2 billion of CHIPS Act money made Intel beat earnings last quarter. Now Intel and Bain Capital have nothing left to cook the books for a broken company selling parts for scrap.

It's not that the CHIPS act needs to end. It's just that CHIPS act money invested in specifically Intel is not a good investment.

INTC is officially dead money. There appears to be no path to resurrection. For anyone worth their salt and has fought to contribute to a turn around? Time to fold your rug and look for another opportunity. For the, generally, incompetent management team and WFH folks who've enjoyed an extended lock-down and the benefits of making work at Intel secondary? You get what you deserve

I trust the judgement of Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and David Sacks more than Intel's board and executives combined. Sorry but that is the truth.

@@c, so you care nothing for the fact that Musk is ki-ling it in his efforts to root out waste & fraud? You'd rather just attack him for having no government experience? As though being experienced in working in the government is some sort of a positive?

Well, that's certainly an opinion.

Did he ever study any chip making stuff before? Similar to the technology Musk guy never work for any local government office or politics and suddenly jump in to fire long time federal workers. A bunch of American id--ts acting so annoyed to the public.

One of the greatest shames in the history of shame. There will never be a bigger shame. But we’re going to take that shame and turn it into one of the shamefulliest situations we’ve ever seen in ah’Mrca.
