Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I'm impatient

When will layoffs pick up again? I want out, but I want to be paid to leave. The sooner, the better.

Until there is another large-scale layoff (WHEN, not if), @c2+1jk7mb00c is likely correct in current layoffs will be ongoing and performance based, cost-reduction, or project cancellations - which in all honesty, should be happening a lot more. R&D and prod dev need to be highly scrutinized and layoffs made accordingly, at all levels top to bottom, plus there's too much fluff in middle "managers/engineers". Can't steer the ship right if you have incapable people in those groups that don't have proven track records. A lot of talent was laid off and it'll reflect over time.

Layoffs never stopped, they just became performance management, mostly for those who spend their day not doing their job.

They see what you are doing.

You have most likely seen the last of the big severance packages.

Most of the payoffs at this point will be individuals, for performance reasons, to reduce cost, or project cancellation.

You'll get 6 months Cobra and a few weeks pay. Unemployment if you are not terminated for cause, but the company has stepped up efforts to root out those who should be terminated for cause. There have been some postings about this.

This is not a good time to be spending all day not doing your job. Like you are doing right now.

You are known.

A little espionage for yourself on the way out, perhaps? Give yourself that severance that Intel doesn’t wanna maybe? But a suitcase full of H100s and fly them to China much? Hmmm?

That ship sailed a long time ago without life boats.

Take a look at what Microsoft just did. People were let go with no severance. I would bet that this will quickly become the new normal. Intel just doesn't have the deep pockets to fund more rounds of layoffs with huge severance packages. If the importance of performance reviews increases stand by for no severance performance based terminations.
