Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Reorganizations and Change Management

One thing that Optum lacks is Change Management processes. They will reorganize teams and expect people to get on board or even understand the new function. And then wonder why morale and performance is low. And with the RIFS happening good people are not performing at the capacity because NO ONE knows what they are supposed to be doing. Because leaders do not either. I missed when leaders actually led. Now everyone just wants to peacock and look the part. What a sad time in our company.

I was laid off in the last round of layoffs. You just wait your turn and can't concentrate on the work that you were hired to do. Do the minimum because your turn will come, and you will regret that you gave the company any of your precious time that could have been spent with your family. Wait for severance, at least get that.

Politics and power grabs keep us divided and stunt progress. It's seen in customer attrition and delayed projects evaporating revenue. It's not bad enough to impact Wall Street because they think political winds (on both sides) prevent single payer to make a moat around UHG.

I don't think WS fully understands how ineptitude, hubris, and a simple lack of knowledge about health care is rotting the org from the inside.

@c1 agree. I’ve never worked less in my life and I don’t plan to start until the cadence of layoffs is done. It all feels pretty pointless right now.

At this point, people don’t know whether they are safe. So they’re not as productive. Basically we’re at the point where they RIF some people, the remaining absorb or other areas absorb. Rinse and repeat every couple weeks. The direction keeps shifting and everyone is just trying to survive.

Just do the big RIF and reorg, and be done. The constant fear and change is tanking actual productivity.
