Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Maternity leave — coming back — layoff

I am on maternity leave and coming back in 2 months. My entire team got layed off while I was out, so I expect to be layed off when I get off maternity leave.
When do they notify me? On the first day back or is there some grace period?
How much notice do they give me for example am I terminated that day, or do I get 2 weeks notice? I am in the US

@OP You should f-c k the CEO or BOD so you don’t have to be worried about layoff or RTO.

I knew a bunch of a--holes would post here. Generally you’d be notified when you return and they’d give you 2-3 months to find another job within the company and send you packing after. They may not do that and just give you severance pay now. You should find another job ASAP. All of your severance will go to COBRA to stay on insurance for your baby without new coverage. It’s like 6k a month

I don't believe OP is equipped to have a baby.

There is no grace period. No corporation cares that you had a baby. The numbers must be met.

One thing I have heard is that you could/should take bonding leave if available immediately without any break in between without returning to work, so that you can extend the time you are on approved leave.

@c0 i have been looking while on Maternity but not found anything so hence my questions on how fast they will lay me off when I get back and do I get some notice 2 weeks before my last day.

All of you that gave feedback to stay at home with baby, f you. I’ll decide what is best for my home and family and my finances.

I just got back from maternity leave. My opinion is don’t stress about when they’ll tell you. It’d be better to apply to jobs within and outside Intel. Get your partner to watch the kid while you do this or try to find a babysitter. I did not apply for new jobs until I returned from leave since I was with the baby all the time, but I knew my job would be there when I returned.

Why did you have a baby if you don't want to take care of it yourself?

usually they will call you and notify you even when you are on leave.

I’m guessing day one or 2. Depends on how your schedule lines up with who has to do it.
