Globalization initiative?

I keep seeing random posts about a so called UHC Globalization initiative. Does anyone have any info? They're saying 70% of FTE will be let go by end of the year...

Witty n Candy gang will not survive this administration, if they don’t stop this madness. There’s definitely shareholders value but there’s always a better way to do. AI will also play big role in reducing the benefits of blind offshoring.

I believe it. Witty did the same thing at GSK.
Offshoreing as much labor as possible is his game.

In 2020, the layoff goal was to reduce American staff to 10%, across all UHG, and have 90% of the entire organization be global (ie not American/onshore).
By the next year their goal was 5% American/onshore, 95% global/offshore.
In March 2020, my department finally had the appropriate staffing of 45. Within 6 months there were 5 people left in my department, and UHG had given those other 40 jobs to Philippines.
As we have gotten more and more contracts specifically that only American/onshore can do the work, American staff has built back up.
My boss told me that apparently UHC lost a lot of accounts, and the anticipated new business did not materialize.
Once they figure out a way to utilize cheap labor abroad, they use American staff to train them, then fire the American staff.
Once the companies/members of the plans that go the cheap route and allow foreigners to have access to their PHI, once they find out who is reviewing their PHI, once the contract is up, they either take their business elsewhere, or upgrade to the more expensive plans that are restricted to American eyes.
The only people who work under the umbrella of UHG are OGA (global/foreign) employees.
Attrition with OGA is perpetually massive, because once the OGA employee fulfills their contractual obligation (usually 2 years for the ones for whom UHG pays to pass the American NCLEX), they quit, and come to American to work in entry level nursing jobs.
Also, as the company finds more and more ways to have AI (automation) do jobs, well…

Correction: Optum Tech goal 30% onshore (corrected) & 70% offshore.

On the Optum side, for 1+ year, the goal has been 30% offshore & 70% offshore. With the layoffs in 2023 & 2024, some areas of Optum Tech have already achieved 70% offshore.

6+ years ago (previous CEO), the goal was 60% onshore & 40% offshore.

See how Sir Witty & Optum Tech candyman SD, (Chief Digital & Tech Officer came from Mars candy company), have "shaped" Optum?

Been here 10+ years. This used to be a decent place to work for onshore FTEs where you were rewarded for your hard work. Those days are gone.

If anyone still believes that as an onshore resource you can have a good career here, sorry, those days are over.

Take advantage of as much training as possible, network with people, research jobs, & apply for jobs. Then, get out!

I am personally planning my exit.
