Last quarter investor call they really pushed em about why our volume isn’t increasing. We have another quarterly investor call soon, I’m sure it will be brought up again, the investors don’t care about 55 op ratio anymore

@bzp Cutting people and equipment may raise profits, but what about total revenue? If a company makes a million dollars, but spends half of that on operating costs. That same company cuts 25% to gain 125k in cost reductions. That same company now has a profit of 625k. If you didn't figure this out yet, the total revenue is still at 1 million. When the business levels go up, revenues don't always follow. That same company that has a 625k profit, and doesn't have the employees to meet the demand. The employees they do have are being over-worked, harassed, and threatened because of the loss in profits. The remaining employees are losing faith in the company and leaving for better conditions. Sound familiar yet? Someone posted a statement sometime ago, and it always stuck with me when I read it. "The UP needs people to survive. The people don't need the UP to survive". UP needs to stop putting their profits over employees.

Yeah but what about the new intermodal facility in Idaho? In reality it’s probably a flat muddy spot on a spur track with a couple of container loaders. That’s progress to our execs!
