Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Question. I want unemployment.

If I just don't do tasks all day, can I still qualify for unemployment? I am trying to find the best way to get RIFd and still get unemployment. I don't like the office policy or sapience. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed me. So far I have tried watching YouTube openly and generally not caring. She doesn't seem to care though. I was hoping someone would tell her if she doesn't notice. Do you think she can still consider adding me to RIF? Why would she be ignoring me clearly not caring? She seems to still do her work. Thanks for any advice on how I can get unemployment from Fiserv.

Agreed it varies by state. Unfortunately if you have Sapience on your machine, depending on what YouTube videos (urls) HR can use it as flag for violation of Code of Conduct equalling no severance and fired for cause. In some states that may equal no unemployment.

@ap My manager has told me that after previous RIFs Fiserv has too few people already and it looks bad to investors at this level. Are you sure there will be an RIF soon?

@bz Fiserv feels like a vacation where my mind can relax for 8 hours though.

@bz How could that conversation look? I am very interested and have a certain amount of time I want to be here.

Have you seen the ones who do get a good reference after that?

Do you want severance or unemployment.

The rules for unemployment vary from state to state. You would want to consult a lawyer for legal advice in your area.

To get severance, you need to work for at least six months. You get one week severance per year of service. To be chosen to be let go, you can volunteer to your manager to be put on the list. Or you could not meet your year end goals and be a 'does not meet' rating to move up the list. You can also not clock in enough hours in the office, or have enough time logged in sapience to be automatically selected (but this might have changed with the change in leadership.)

The best option is to find another employer and start working there. It will feel like a vacation compared to working at Fiserv, but you will still get paid.

Just tell them you want to be RIF’ed next. It’s not that effing hard. RIFs will come soon. Depending on what they fire you for, you might not qualify for unemployment.
