Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

This is the time of year when Dell LOVES to make new policies...

My guess is they will roll out a policy that says you HAVE to be IN office for at LEAST 3 or maybe even 4 hours/day but no longer than 4.

I honestly don't think they will do an 8 hour in office type thing simply because the majority of competitors aren't - HP and Lenovo as an example. Dell follows, not leads.

If anything I think it will be mostly left up to the execs of each BU to determine what they want.

@c2 I 100% agree with you however, I'd bet money that remotes are gonna start getting the heat sooner than later in regards to layoffs. Dell has made it abundantly clear that they want EVERYONE to be local to an office.

Remotes have been getting hit but I think they are gonna get hit a LOT more, and frequently in the coming year(s)

New positions are not offered remote anymore. Remotes aren't eligible for promotions because ALL job movement REQUIRES you to be onsite now. For i8's and above, that's likely not an issue as they rarely ever get promoted anyways... but, I'd bet that bonus's and/or raises will either decrease or be non-existent for remotes soon. Essentially forcing those i8s+ to quit as their job became a literal dead-end job (unless they relocate.)

They will start with the remotes who are below an i8 first, get rid of a lot of them, then will move up to i9 - i10s, then go after the Sr. Managers - whom most got knocked down to i10's last year anyways...

Point is that remotes are IMPO going to feel the brunt of layoffs going forward. I mean if Dell wants everyone to be in office then they have to start axing remotes eventually... I'm sure there will be exceptions but those will be few and far between and only reserved for those whom are VITAL to their org

@by What's funny about that though, is considering 8x5 hour workdays is NOT an official Dell policy, you'd have a half decent lawsuit against Dell if you were to get fired for not abiding by the 8 hours in office portion.

VP's and execs of orgs can demand you be in office 8 hours/day all they want but at the end of the day, the OFFICIAL policy is to be in office 5 days/week with no defined time in office declared. Last I checked, the policy just says to be in office for a "reasonable amount of time" - which wtf does that even mean lol? A reasonable amount of time is whatever people want it to be..

As much as people hate HR, execs can't go against HR. Not even JC or MD. Policy is policy and if an 8 hour in office policy is not official nor defined in HR, then "technically" you can't be fired for that and execs can't ACTUALLY enforce that, nor use it against you.

The execs of ISG are straight up manipulating all of you, as they know dang well that they have no way to genuinely enforce it, other than instill fear into you.

Why do so many employees still not get it? RTO was never about getting anyone back in the office. It's about making life a living he-l for as many people as possible so they quit on their own. There are so many people who still work remote and nothing ever happens to them. It's a bluff. If you're critical path, Dell won't touch you. Problem is, not enough people quit on their own so Dell came up with this new brain child forced attrition comp plan to get more sales people to quit. Every policy they come up with now is to get more people to quit.
