Thread regarding SAP layoffs

The Irony of all this…

I am just going to put out my thoughts, throughout this “restructure” I am applaud at the way us (the employees) have attacked one another. At the end of the day the only ones that should be attacked is the company and its board members and executives for executing such a strategy. I realize that each country has different laws, protections, salaries, perks, etc… but shame on us for going back and forth with each other. We are all just trying to survive, support and provide for our loved ones. Instead of bashing each other and pointing blame we should be lifting each other up, helping each other by networking our resources to each other.. Life is not always fair folks, each and everyone of us has the same rights, fears and worries. Instead of the divide lets come together and help those thats employment has been taken away because of the companies strategy. I was impacted before in the US, I understand the emotions and feeling of betrayal. It doesn’t matter what country you live in, we are all in this together. Let’s help those impacted in anyway we can.

I'm from the batch that got laid off in 2017 in Australia.

The sad reality is, you are in this on your own. Initially, I still kept in touch with some of the guys who got laid off at the same time, sending one another encouragement, meeting up for lunch, etc. Once they got their new jobs, while I was still looking for one, they pretty much ignored me. Till now.

Don't depend on others' empathy or "support". There is none. You are now their competitor in the job market.

I blame the next working generation after GenZ. Because by the time they are in the work force wondering how this mess was created, I will be long retired or dead, and unavailable to answer their questions. Sc--w them, they are here to replace us anyway!

@bxx+1s6PLiz5 A reasonable, insightful and measured analysis? Who let you in here?

Well said.

Best wishes and good luck to all former and current SAP colleagues. Regardless of circumstance, we are all going to need it.

Watch the stock market in the US, companies are running out of cash reserves and inflation is stickier than usual. The fed's interest rate is forcing companies to borrow less money to finance economic activities. In turn, there will be fewer companies that can stomach the high cost of debt and reduced economic activity as people spend less to curb inflation. Everyone was hiring left and right when they were given free money by the central banks and now it is the opposite with the system su-king cash out of the economy.

The Board and the CEO are doing what every selfish business leader would do, which is to maximise shareholder value - we should have seen this coming at some point.

Nobody appears to be blaming the actual root cause of the problem (ironic how as a supply chain company, we know that the root cause of inflation is because oil and natural resource supply chains are being disrupted by wars and reckless government spending, which is pulling back supply and driving up the value of goods).

But heck, it is easier to blame your colleagues instead of supporting one another in these difficult times. Most of us are literally one paycheck away from going homeless. It's the usual poor dog-eat-dog distraction while the rich get richer.

All laid off sap employees across globe should unite if there are valid questions and answers you seek before signing any papers.

Nice. Complain about others attacking each other… by attacking.

Completely agree. It is bewildering that people are attacking others in different countries, roles, etc. Perhaps folks should go to therapy instead of being a--holes to their colleagues or former colleagues. We should support each other in times like this.
