Intel says it hopes to begin making chips with its 14A technology in 2028 or 2029. Given the ramp-up time it takes for new manufacturing technologies, Bernstein & Co. analyst Stacy Rasgon estimated that gives Intel no more than 18 months to “land a hero customer on 14A

One could only hope that Intel exits Oregon and that the state just implodes.
Hopefully that would bring it back to its greatness and glory, not the steaming shithole it is today - both figuratively and literally.

And we certainly can't get rid of AFO because then who would go to Dr Feelgoods?

As long as Intel keeps Hawthorn Farms campus, because that is where the real work gets done, and some gardening too.

See if the VP departures from TD are followed by a major restructuring and RIF.

Could see 50% reduction and the elimination of a whole lot of nonsense in the process.

TD is a perfect example of what happens when the same people are at the top of an org for decades.

TLDR: nothing good.

@cp LBT has a scenario worked up which deals with the risk of inadequate customer support for 14A.

It does not involve keeping the fabs.

Problem solved.

You want the product, you got to get involved.

Customers: thanks for telling us, great to know (continue to do nothing)

The 18mo estimate is from Stacy Ragsdon, an Intel permabear, yet he has been mostly right about the company all along.

I see what LBT is doing as an ultimatum to customers, as is happening right now with Ericsson and NEX. You want the product, you got to get involved.

It is simply no longer economically viable for Intel to develop 14A if external customers refuse to get involved.

Also considering the recent EVP departures from TD and IFS, seems a certainty that IFS is about to be broken up, to prepare for a fairly rapid spin off.

The spin off would only include the EUV fabs, with all the others sold to other foundries, or run to the point of shuttering them.

IFS is about to get real.

Oregon got woke and is going broke. The state, cities like Portland, and local utilities keep ja--ing up rates on everything every year.
