What are your thoughts about potential Charter Communications layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

@OP Austin
The Denver office let some of the contractors (developers and QA) know that their contracts will not be extended past May. This was not surprising due to the large influx of offshore and nearshore contractors that have joined some of the teams the past year.
@gee
Which cities? Call center, NOC, HQ?
@gdn it's coming for sure. Facilities has been notified
@ap5
I haven’t heard of any layoff in the 2 weeks since you posted this.
Any news or were we just aiming to make people feel insecure for their jobs?
@ef9 Sorry to hear this!
How much severance and did they vest your RSU’s?
We hear about layoffs through the WARN system. Just think how many more people are getting laid off in smaller pockets, by companies such as Charter, that go under the radar that we never hear about.
Charter used to give advanced notifications about layoffs, giving the impacted people a chance to look for another opportunity within the company or at least to get their finances in order.
When part of my team was laid off, we were not given any advanced notice, just called into a meeting, told the news, and then escorted out the door like a criminal. We were not even allowed to walk back to our desks to pick up personal items like jackets, sunglasses or car keys. The security team had to grab those items for us, and then mailed out our other personal belongings, which some of mine got lost and others damaged in the mail.
The day I got laid off, I heard that 12 people got laid off. The 5 people that I was aware of were all over 60 years old! One of my peer's, who completed certifications just 3 weeks prior, and promised a promotion, was also laid off, while he was on short term disability for cancer treatment! How tacky is that!
While layoffs are part of the corporate game, Charter could have been a lot humanistic and transparent in the way the situation was handled!
@aqq There is a WARN notice for the Appleton WI call center. 313 people will relocate to a different center or be released.

@bw6 what BU?
Seeing a lot of new faces, all contractors, which is either good or bad news depending on what you speculate. My concern is our average velocity to meet deadlines for all of 2025 was already low. So unless they're anticipating a ton of new work preceding the merger, we can't sustainably keep all the old and new people.
@ap5 Sure, so either the F100 with decades of appropriate adherence to WARN requirements are planning to break that streak to do layoffs BEFORE a merger…or the other alternative is you’re just wrong about layoffs coming.
Sorry, but I’m not putting my faith in the anonymous online stranger saying the sky is falling, in that fight.
@adb warn is only if they are giving a 60 day notice. They can just choose to pay the employees the 60 days and lay them off without notice.
Thank you for showing everyone how seriously to take you.
@adb h1bs are notified for WARN acts because they aren't us citizens, isn't a requirement
Since so many comments on here make no sense, I hope you all realize that WARN shows no upcoming layoffs.
In fact offshore Cox staff will be replaced by US employees.
Why some people want everyone to be constantly worried about layoffs is beyond me, but they don’t seem to know what they’re talking about.

@42w where were the jobs that were laid off at the end of 2025?
"@3ky a lot of jobs layed off at end of 25 are now being reposted in CT."
@9qw why would they purge pre-merger? That just doesn’t make sense.
I’m in SDIT one of my coworkers said he heard layoffs in March, then the next round in June/July for the merger.
In what state? @7qw
I have not heard anything, but it’s highly likely they’ll do more layoffs, maybe before the merger later this year.
@7qw Please update us if you hear anything else!
I left Charter in November (I quit for new job) but am still connected to HR there, and they are prepping for something big. Has to be a layoff - mood is very somber. She can't say, but the fact that she can't say is saying volumes!
@3ky a lot of jobs layed off at end of 25 are now being reposted in CT.
If you guys are smart union up before mas walks in
@30q I’m a current coworker in corporate and no one has said anything about future layoffs. I’m not being naive and saying that they 100% won’t happen, but where is this 10k number coming from? Everyone I know across multiple business units was absolutely shocked when the 1,200 happened last year and had no clue they were coming, so how are people so confident there will be 10k this year?
@207 from former coworker due to the cox merger
100 percent. they still have thousands they plan to cut before mid summer
@25a cox deal isn’t even final and needs multiple state approvals. Stop spreading fake news.
@1zy where did you hear this? I feel like no one knows anything except finance
It is going to be 10k that's what I heard coming
January 2026 another round of layoffs and July 2026 when the Cox deal finalized. It is already planned
