Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

QCI randomly scheduled for Thursday.

Like many folks at Fidelity, most people don’t have a separate QCI meetings but those managers randomly schedules a QCI this Thursday can only mean one thing. RIF. The RIFs have been verified by multiple sources who have access to high level management. I got the random QCI invite this morning which coincides with managers getting the list of people on the list. Stay strong. Nothing we can do but move forward and hope Abby can catch up to the 3 trillionaires in the world while destroying countless families who have elevated her there.

A theory only: These definitely are not real QCIs but maybe they aren’t layoffs either (this is not how anyone schedules layoff conversations), maybe they are to discuss those rumored demotions or in-office compliance. Technically then it would sort of make sense to call them something performance-based like a QCI even if it’s obviously not that. If this is really how they’re handling layoffs, that is full-on bananas.

fwiw my QCIs have always been scheduled as separate meetings but only with my current manager (prior manager discussed during 1:1s). mine was scheduled but not for Thursday

no ideas what's going to happen, but this thread is intriguing to say the least

Quarterly checkins don't happen on Thursday at 8:30 am. They happen in regular 1:1 with mgr.
However why should they label it as

You would never know you had it good until you don’t have it anymore.

So careful what you wish for.

@b0 You contradicted yourself big time. Employing 88K vs 35K... Though some aren't deserving of employment, Fido is helping ALOT more people than Schwab

Everyone needs to chill. The OP is probably making sh!t up… for the most part. Yes, there are legitimate QCI happening this week. But strange there are duplicates. But those are speculations. Who knows. Maybe you’re getting a promotion. Bottom line this site is toxic and does nothing but cause paranoia and stress. So unless you have concrete evidence please do not add fuel to the fire.

I hope all of this is simply rumours because I’m 54 and hoping to make it one more year before I leave. I have been upset since Miss Abby took over but I have been deliberate in waiting it out. I hope I can last until next year. After that my stress level will be completely gone because I can really enjoy retirement and forget all the negative years since Abby took over the company.

@ba I agree. Their groups have exploded so much since pandemic to ver hundreds. Thank you, Ed, for rewarding those who do nothing but kiss @ss. Coat tail they call it. Embarrassing for Fiorio and Paine. No self worth. But for all it’s worth they’re doing what America stand for…all for them and none for the rest. Fidelity is literally Infidelity.

Fiorio and Paine. Not the names I want for the next few years. Utterly useless groups. Redundancy much? And what value do they bring???

@aa I wonder what their reactions are gonna be when they find they got name dropped on Fidelity’s thelayoff page.

If you got name dropped here, does that mean you “made it” at Fidelity?

Im so scared that I called my manager. She picked up but said she can’t talk about it until Thursday. I asked her why she scheduled an 8:30am QCI call when we already talked about it and she said it was something else and insisted that we hold off until Thursday. Im so worried.

I’m a contractor developer and I didn’t get renewed. But that was 3 weeks ago and I still haven’t found a job at Fidelity.

@b2 if they lay anyone off, hopefully they extend the insurance rate for awhile. And there’s always the marketplace, and other jobs. I hope everyone ends up okay or better.

@aq that doesn’t sound good. That’s the kind of ambiguity that I would expect if I were getting laid off. Sorry about that 😬

I didn’t get the QCI meeting but my manager schedule a call with me on Thursday at 8am. I’m really scared. My husband told me not to overthink it but how can I not with all these responses. I worked 50+ hours for Fidelity for the past 21 years and there’s a chance they will kick me to the curb. My husband is just recovering from cancer and I can’t bear the thought of not having insurance. If there’s a god, please help us.

Why is everyone so stressed out? If get RIFed, it not on you. Fidelity never had any talent management strategy. Look at the past VBOs and RIFs. They lost the most critical people. That’s not to say it’s right. VBOs = wins. RIFs = mixed bag. End of the day Fidelity has no idea who is who and who does what. OMG. 88k people compared to Schwab at fraction! Whatever happens, it’s a numbers games for that tw@t who has billions yet does not hesitate to destroy Americans who helped her build her wealth.

Monday is the list. Wed the training. Thursday the official announcement. Relax everyone. There is so much information here. Best use of time is to update resume and figure out how and where you will land on your feet. It stinks but this is and has always been corporate America. Don’t let the evil Abby win. Refocus and maybe help the next competitor take her down.
