Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

In office 5 days means I’m not working from home for weather

We get snow… I’m calling out. Not going to be able to play the game with me working from home if it’s banned!

I would STRONGLY encourage anyone who is able to to do the same on the next weather event.

Can’t have it both ways when it’s only convenient to them.

@mn+1jkqvxewd I understand your position and anger about this whole BS situation. That being said, if you're sick, please stay home. You can probably use the rest, and there are strong odds that you work with one or more people that getting sick could quickly turn into a significant issue, or even a death sentence.

If it can wait twenty minutes, then it can wait until the morning.

I’m in a role the does work from home presently with one day a week in the office. Recently advised that we will be in the office 5 days a week but still expect to work from home for on call/testing. I live about 20 minutes from the office. Technically I could cancel my Internet service ( pay increases at Fiserv is laughable) since I will no longer be working from home anymore. Drive to the office to meet the on call/testing obligation. Asking the clients to wait 20 plus minutes should be acceptable. Right?

@a8+1jkqvxewd It's a great idea.

If they let me work from home to your bad weather, I'm going to do it. Because I have better things to do with my 'unlimited' time off. I have a couple of trips planned and need that time.
Unfortunately since I can't work from home with a bad cold, I will be forced to expose my coworkers to my germs. And because we're not allowed to exceed the number of days we'd get if we weren't unlimited. Though I'm still waiting to see that in print

Managers will be approving PTO and if they do not approve, then you can get into trouble. I know, it su-ks, but we were told this recently. We can't win other than quitting.

"Get fired then. We will be tracking call outs like previous years."

Why would someone get fired for taking part of their unlimited R&R?

Sounds like someone gets their jollies from powertrips

If we have to work 5 days a week in the office , shouldn’t we leave our laptops at our desk since we have to come the next day

I'm not driving into the office during tropical storms or hurricanes. Fu-k that.

Yup. Leave your laptops at the office, too. Lock em in the pathetic tiny storage we get so they're "safe." Sorry... if I only work from the office now, its ONLY from the office. Snow days are mine again. A bit sick but could wfh? Not any more. Kid sick? That's a 'Wellbeing' day now. Plumber coming? I'll need a full 8 hour vacation day to wait for them to show up.

We WANT to be flexible and work whenever we reasonably can! They want to control us. If they can take their flexibility away from us, we can take ours from them.

Use every single PTO day you have. Unlimited? Restrict yourself to what your reporting staff have and don't excess the same totals.

Malicious. Compliance.

I completely agree with you, they shouldn’t be able to have it both ways.

But the only way this doesn’t get you into trouble is if the office itself is closed. Then they can’t provide you a safe place of work.

If the office is open, you’re told to wfh for safety reasons and you choose not to? You’ll get pulled up on that. It’s not fair but that’s the way it is.
