Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What will happen for Chengdu Factory?

Consider the current "tariff war" situation, where will CD factory go in future? This is about thousands of people.

There you go - Trump has given the answer. Tariffs are reduced on PCs. So Chengdu will keep humming and supplying CPUs to PC manufacturers in China.

Shut down and move home and automate everything.

Intel will do what other companies will do, which is to attempt to manufacture in China what is needed in China.

That was always true but moreso now. ATM is far more automated than it was even a decade ago, so the cost/benefit has changed.

Hopefully the tariff situation between the US and China becomes the new normal, enabling the US to extricate itself from the communist regime, after having been sold out by globalists and corporations, seeking cheap labor.

Since the US supported China joining the WTO in 2000, the country has seen its manufacturing base, middle class and intellectual property abused. Way past time to stop this mistake.

@bv... "We elected the most incompetent person in history. " this would have been a true statement if Kamala Harris had won.Trump is non-conventional in his approach but he isn't wrong on the basic premise.

Tarrifs on China were not pulled back, increased again, China not backing down, they reciprocated and matched Trump's tarrif.
Trump is trembling, he's finding out he has no idea what he's doing and China has more power to control our economy than he does.
We elected the most incompetent person in history.

Nothing. Administration just pulled back on the tariffs. Seems like all a bluff. Don isn't good at poker.

@ba... that is pretty short sighted. Typical we need instant gratification at any cost mentality. America has been spending too much for the rest of the world for too long. Trade deficits shouldn't exist, USAID spending billions of American dollars with no return for America - gone, US paying for European defense - on its way out. It is long over due for America to put its citizens first. We will no longer be the door mat for the rest of the world. The transition won't happen over night but at least it has finally been initiated.
