Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

VPN Down, Chaos Up

VPN went out awhile back — word is Charlotte teammates working from home and the “permanent” telecommuters decided to come into the office with their kids in tow (because who needs childcare when you’ve got badge access, right?).

Naturally, it turned into a full-blown security circus

Big thanks to leadership for taking the lesson to heart and rewarding us with a 5-day-a-week RTO in January. Appreciate y’all alpaca-ing us back to the office.

@bs look at that you can do some research, yes the issue was announced before. That’s how Truist would have become aware of it, then a decision would have likely occurred where the company weighed out the risk of leaving them online to slowly patch vs bringing them down and batching all at one time, in this they would have likely weighed out the impact of the business.

But yes I'm sure you are right. During all the emergency calls I bet they laughed at having to force everyone into the offices for the day. Cause this would have been the perfect opportunity to make 4 days a 5 day………

@a9 The issue with the VPN happened before it went down at Truist. They could have implemented the fix before the work day started but I guess they sought this out as a perfect opportunity.

I can’t wait to bring my kids to the office on teacher work days. My kids would love the adventure. Can’t help if it prevents others from their productivity.

@a2 How can you people be so dense that you think the VPN issue was a "test" or "staged'. The sooner you people quit because of the RTO mandate the sooner it will get better for the rest of us

@a9 Nah, not staged, but self inflicted. Truist took down the VPN intentionally to fix a high severity vulnerability.

@a2 how was the VPN outage a test? There’s no way that was staged, right? Maybe I’m overly trusting

@OP That staged VPN issue was an obvious test. Smart teammates used vacation/sick time to save gas money.
