Interns aplenty

Noticed the plethora of interns inhabiting Dell RR campus this week. Not a good time to be a white male.

White males have to go to college first to get to be ann intern…Instead of being stay at home sons in the basement playing video games and watching YouTube videos of people opening Pokémon cards.

Gen Z will hustle for peanuts, sure but they’re not building a career out of crumbs like the boomers did.

Interns are willing to sign up for the wage cage life, but only short term. They realize Dell is not a long term play.

"probably an oat milk sipping disgruntled Gen Zzzzzzzzzzz."

Nope, I am an oatmilk despising, disgruntled millennial. Nice try though.

@be

I wouldn't call dell a country club. It definitely is a retirement home. An end of career destination.

Country club suggests that dell is upscale and prestigious. Far from it.

Dell’s basically a country club for middle-aged white dudes. You must be the odd one out, probably an oat milk sipping disgruntled Gen Zzzzzzzzzzz.

"racism and discrimination have no place in our workplace"

If this is true then why am I the only white guy on my team? In a country where the majority of the population is white, team demographics should reflect that right?

Stating facts is now considered biased opinion. I recall many interns at Dell unqualified but hired to meet demographic quotas. Between 2015 and 2019 we had several that we recommended not to hired due to lack of capability and clear motivational issues. But they were scooped up by other teams to meet demographic needs. It's not about getting the best talent , it's about virtue signaling.

I understand how difficult change can be, and I value your honesty. However, I want to emphasize that racism and discrimination have no place in our workplace, and we must all take responsibility for fostering respect and inclusion.

Rather than only pointing out the issues, let’s focus on solutions. How can we work together to create a more supportive, inclusive environment for everyone?

Interns, new grads, or rotational program?

We have new rotational program people in my group. Most of the people in the program who go through our project seem to count the days until they can move on.

If you're mad that these bright young individuals are making you actually have to work hard to keep up with them, then just say that.

Always the victim. If you are valuable, you have nothing to worry about.
