Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How many more will be cut?

There is no end. Every week more jobs are being axed and employees sent home.
Our LL5 was disappointed and this morning let us know that it will continue into the "foreseeable future".

This is my sentiment as well. Still in the automotive industry, but if the times comes and they show me the door, or I find a much better offer I'll be out and likely never come back. People are petty and needlessly competitive everywhere, but automakers seem to attract a special flavor of it that I'm finding I don't have the taste for. When it's time, it'll be time I guess.

I don't want to lose my job, but i'm as prepared as i can be if it happens.

I was once let go from the auto industry. I'm never returning to this overrated, bloated industry again! There is a whole different world of engineering out there besides auto. Now as an outsider to the big 3, auto engineering is such an insignificant thing to me. No toxic workplace and no developmentally-challenged CEOs and managers!
Don't lose hope. Just try not to go back to the same fecal hole if you get a chance

@br Give it a break already. No recent cuts have been announced at the town hall since JF took over. He tells the press first, and maybe... MAYBE they mention it after the fact.

I agree and you are correct. Nothing official was said by leadership regarding company-wide resource actions at the recent Global Town Hall. That is the only official outlet for cascades from the company to employees.

@aa+1jvpry82x - if yesterday or today is your day back to work, it is likely your maternity leave and not everything back to being active. I have seen it take a couple days to be fully functional for folks who returned from a leave such as yours.

There are a couple (at least) trolls on here saying things just to get people all worried, proving that psychopaths and sadists really do exist.

So, take everything merely as a clue that may or may not be true.

Was in the office today. The fear is palpable. No one talking, heads down. Everyone worried.

Hopefully due to just being away and not a job cut. Praying for you!

I am just coming back from a short maternity leave since I had recently joined and can’t access teams or outlook anymore is it due to leave or another round of layoffs? It’s so stressful

@a1+1jvpry82x I hate this approach, its so silly. Cutting whole project teams or departments never makes sense to me, its the easy road. Over the years I saw great people move over to these teams, only to be caught up in one of these actions. They had zero chance to impact the project as they just got there, yet are canned with the rest.

It is right there with the strategy of canning the higher compensated people. If you think theyre worthless, fine, but to be highly compensated you must have had some years where peplle didn't feel that way about your performance, so what changed?

Well, let’s think about it. The FNV4 people, all of Latitude, at least half of the ADAS team, anyone with a pension, and anyone older than 50 have to go. Then you have Sami, DF, JF and BF which definitely need to go. I would think this would be a good estimate.

At a minimum they have all the people working on FNV4 who are no longer needed and need to be laid off.
