Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

R2B is gone

So it's SMB now and we're sc--wed. New title and responsibilities, no OT and no raise. Enough already, time to quiet quit.

@29w they want R2B in the gutter next to the Indians they fired, take what you learned and leave.

@1hw you drastically overestimate reps in the store

Not surprised R2B is gone. A sales rep in a store can set up Joes Plumbing’s 7 lines.

@fr Good thing we just changed to a B2B title helping us ride that resume off into the sunset baby. Sink or swim in B2B sunshine. Good luck selling tablets for 50 buckoroos sweet cakes. Wait until R2B starts learning your pitch decks and crowding your space with efficiency and hunger now that their easy commissions have been stripped. That’s going to put downward pressure on compensation and strip away your new business. Lace up those pavement stomping boots and get after it.

@fp i agree! I can’t tell you how many b2b accounts I’ve had to FIX because b2b reps have either slammed and just covered up with credits or just ghosted a customer then somehow found my number and asked me to fix. Look i get it we’re all trying, we’re all tired just have some understanding. Not all r2b reps are useless and btw most of my sales have been iot for YEARS.

R2B made sense when we were adding millions of customers. It became a colossal waste that could be cared for by a retail rep. Curious how large the retail ops teams are these days. Waste of headcount, doing busy work and slide decks to pretend to add value.

oh yeah and iSign. What are you guys gunna do now that you can’t post up at the store and convert a bunch walk in consumer new accounts who DONT EVEN OWN BUSINSSES as iSign new logos? Y’all definitely about to sink or swim. If you did false churn, iSign out the wazoo, worked b2b accounts you shouldn’t have been working and profited off never ending leadshare, never over achieved your ecode target, ur cooked. Look at moving back to retail as a rep or am or apply out. COOKED. as someone who has seen r2b work our accounts over the years via “they walked into the store” loophole I’m eager to see how this plays out for you all.

R2B, SMB, Jr. B2B, I’ll never smell GE…. Ahhhh yes - the false churn Machine. Fraud everywhere. Slamming features and second number. Now without retail carrying your cute little quota, it’s time to finish with positive net adds since the inception of this suspect org. T Mobile and ATT eats whatever yall are calls now lunch

@fr and not to mention R2B doing false churn every other sale bc false churn is not scrutinized like it is in b2b. I cant tell you how many R2B reps I’ve seen literally find 20 tabs that are at $30/month each and tell the customer they can help them call in or use my business to cancel them just to reconnect the same exact tabs so they get 20 new lines and the customer gets the $20 rate plan. Slamming tabs with mobile clients that customers don’t even know about. Don’t even get me started on 2nd number. Innocent customers going in to upgrade 5 phones and being told “we have a promo going where we can get you the phone for free when you active the second number feature” I have so many accounts with second numbers tied to new lines that aren’t even in use. Those janky shady sales tactics would never fly in B2B. R2B should have moved to pure outbound no retail a long time ago or been axed entirely.

@fp hahahaha you HAVE to be joking. Like a 100 tabs just fall out of the sky like that lmao. Please brother. R2B fulfilled 80% of their quota from walk-in inbound sales and leads and also being able to capitalize on b2b leadshare on any b2b account they wanted to work or just simply ring it out of the store. It takes a whole other skill set to actually learn how to prospect and own your own territory and be a true hunter and develop cold call frameworks that actually work and the correct way to run discovery, demo, and proposal. Dealing with larger accounts means navigating gate keepers and having to multithread deals with multiple different stakeholders often time them being c level execs that require you to speak with a certain vernacular and business acumen that r2b couldn’t even dream of. Don’t forget to mention learning a whole other suite of products like mdm, connect, private network, cybersecurity, M2M and IoT that never sees the light of day in r2b bc those solutions are not suited for the micro teeny bopper baby bi--h 1-9 mom and pop shops. Most R2B reps can’t even hardly share their screen and run through a pitch deck in a meeting without trembling much less send proper follow up meeting recaps and set next steps. B2B mid market has and always will be superior to the now dead R2B role. Try putting r2b on your resume and applying out to other top technology companies for b2b roles they will laugh in your face at that rinky di-k “retail to business” what are you on about.

@ev glorified role? Limited to companies with employee size 1-9? B2B is the real do nothing crowd, glorified order takers. “Oh, you want 100 tablets? Coming right up Mr. Business operations guy” R2B is the most mistreated role in all of Verizon.

No more retail employees carrying your quota? Welcome to the real business until. R2B was always a glorified retail role. Now you’re all in the real business group. Sink or swim…..

@bq very upset is an understatement. With it being half way through the month of May and we haven’t seen anything move i doubt we will see any changes at this point.

We were told in no uncertain terms that there would be comp adjustments for last month and a salary raise and comp changes come June, likely a salary bump

If neither of those things happen people are going to be very upset

@ak we’ve asked what’s going on with compensation since a huge portion of r2b did not get paid comm checks last month and all we are told is stay patient finance is figuring it out….

@a9 can you elaborate further on cryptic answers about being compensated?

I can attest it’s terrible last month (April) was the first time I’ve never hit a commission check and they pulled pip last month for that reason as there’s been a lot of r2b not getting commission checks. Enough is enough with the transition and we keep getting cryptic answers about being compensated.

@OP I was laid off in November and been curious on changes. Old colleagues told me new comp structure was pretty good when they first launched it at the beginning of the year but a couple of them said quota continued to rise each subsequent month and now the pay seems to be slightly less than it was on old structure. Why do you say SMB is sc--wed? Half my old team seem indifferent to not being in stores or apart of retail. Do you think quotas will be unattainable or what? I also heard there were raises? Wonder why they opted to change that…
