Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Anyone else’s productivity tanked with RTO?

60-90 minutes devoted to commuting.
Coworkers constantly stopping by to chat about non work related things.
Leaders encouraging team lunches that last an hour.
Scrambling to find private space for sensitive calls.

I’m hitting my time but getting a lot less accomplished. But I’m at my desk. That’s what matters, right?

@1jn Agree. Trust is important in both directions for people to really feel like a team.

But Simon Sinek , ugh. Platitudes. Lack of empirical evidence for his theories based on strung together anecdotes. His ideas are oversimplified, disconnected from the company's "why". No practical execution approaches and a disregard for the customer in favor of internal beliefs. Furthermore, his use of neuroscientific concepts is questionable (that's being generous) - lacks scientific rigor. Pop management "science" that feels good.

Wow, I had no idea how much that guy irritates me.

@1jn You're acting like people here actually read books.

@bq are you really leaning in on “because we’ve always done it this way”?

@at tell me you don’t understand the value of trust without telling me that you don’t understand the value of trust.

Read Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek and learn about building a company culture and how it improves productivity.

Some of these people who complains about people criticizing RTO never drove in Memphis before.

Wonder why HQ has not thought of this approach, Just give a minimum package to anyone failing to complete the RTO requirements. Like 1 week per year an basic MIP and invest the savings into R&D in empty areas.
Just saying.

I have to admit, I enjoyed the whiney useless deadwood at home, They are a drag to listen to all day complaining. I hope they get sent back home ... Sorry but we really learned to just do without them in the office. I'm sure other agree .. Just saying.
Who cares any more if they steal a paycheck at home, thats for them to deal with NOT us.

@at I’m sorry that you lack reading comprehension. I’m not complaining about being back in the office as much as I am stating that it’s difficult to get work done in the office compared to working at home. If you are a shareholder, this should concern you. I’m certainly not going to take extra time working from home in the evenings or weekends make up for time lost at the office since I’m already taking time to commute. Family first.

No point in RTO. Literally people on my team don’t even come in for 4 days or just coffee badge. So what is the point?

RTO was NEVER about productivity. It was about making employees quit so they don’t have to pay a severance package.

oooh so sad for you! Welcome back to reality!
At least this way the company knows that you are not playing golf, doing errands, napping and whatever else you do at home, instead of "working from home"

Companies pay you to do work for them, not play with your pets at home!

HR’s master plan is in works to force voluntary resignations because of RTO so they don’t pay you severance. They are using any tactics to layoff people with minimal financial impact.
